The MB is lying about the scarf and she is stealing the nanny 's property. If you cannot understand that this wrong, then you must also be a liar and a thief.

Actually, I agree with the first pp. Unless that scarf is made out of gold or was given by my deceased grandmother and thus loaded with sentimental value, then it's just a material item. It sucks that the lady took it and then doesn't remember or is lying about it, but ultimately, it's an object that sooner or later will end up at goodwill anyway. That said, I'd just take it back next time it was there and be done with it, but I wouldn't keep asking her about it or harping on it or letting it eat at me. It's totally bizarre, but again, it's just a thing.

The issue isn't the value of the item. The issue is OPs right to not have her boss steal from her. That some of you manage to make excuses for this amazes me.

Are you kidding me? Its winter time and people bundle up and wear scarves, hats etc. Its not funny to me at all seeing as how I spent good money on it and purchased it specifically for the way it was made and the material and color. The store that I got it at doesn't even have them any more. Its not finders keepers losers weepers

I mean honestly. think this board has a boat load of trolls that come here just to give asinine responses. Im giving this MB a huge side-eye now. For the fact that I can't let it go makes me feel good about taking it back next time Im there. Heck I may even wear it back there later and say "see this is the scarf I was talking about, found it!" and smile (J/K) but yep Im definitely going get it one way or another. I can't fathom someone coming over and telling me what I have is theirs and I don't know where I got it myself yet say its mine even after they proceed to tell me where they purchased it smh

I once was a 100% sure that someone took my umbrella. I took it back when he wasn't looking. Later on, he asked me if I had his umbrella. I said, no, it was mine and he couldn't prove it so he let it go. A month later, I found my umbrella. Looking back, I wish I had just let it go instead of stooping lower by taking it back.

The family I nanny for is wealthy. I am not. One day I took my charges to the Goodwill so they could see where I get the cool toys I keep showing up with. I told them they could each spend $3 (my money). The little girl picked out a scarf. It was $2.99. She had fun playing with it for a couple days. After that it disappeared. I don't know why. Maybe the kitten got hold of it and tore it up and MB threw it away. My point is that the scarf was only $3 and my MB pays me a whole lot more than $3 a day. I would not want to jeopardize my job that I really enjoy and a respectable income over a scarf.

Apple's and oranges. You GAVE the kid the money to buy the 2nd hand scarf. OP BOUGHT a NEW scarf for herself NOT the MB. SKANKY MB IS NOW CLAIMING SCARF IS HERS. DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE?

OP, you found an Infinity scarf in your employer's home that looked like the one you haven't been able to find. It is very possible that the scarf is yours. It also is very possible it is not. You don't remember leaving it there and she doesn't remember where she got it. I remove all the tags from my accessories because I don't like them showing or the feel of a tag against my skin. I'm sure many women do the same. Do you really want to take something from their home without being absolutely sure it is yours. I wouldn't.

I think that was a thoughtful outing for your charges, pp. Ignore the rude poster who feels the need to shout and put people down.

Sounds like you and MB have the same scarf, and she is wearing her own scarf.
