Ditto. I was with a family for 4 years and received one raise. I was paid well so it didn't make a difference to me. They were generous when it came to stuff like vacation days and treated me very well.

Yes. She does deserve a merit increase.

I don't know what to do...

Maybe you should have considered this before you decided to hire a nanny. There are many other lower cost childcare options that do not involve tying another persons finances directly to your own. My rent has gone up every year. As another poster pointed out, if she is unable to pay her bills comfortably she will be forced to move on, or if she feels she deserves more, she may choose to. Good luck.

OP troll had us fooled, people. She's disgruntled about the "Good Nannies Deserve an Annual Raise" thread. She wants the nanny to be more and more poor, as the price of everything goes up, except the nanny's minuscule wages.

Little does she know, the price of revolving door nannies is far more expensive than a few extra dollars to maintain the stability of a competent nanny who loves her child. She wants the best nanny, but she doesn't want to compensate accordingly. She figures she can take advantage of the devoted nanny. Before she knows it, the nanny will accept a better offer and she'll be scrambling, only to find that last nanny was the ultimate bargain, even with an appropriate pay raise.

Parents like her are shameful. They deserve the troubles that await them down the road. But their innocent child deserves less selfish parents.

She had her nanny for two years - that's hardly a revolving door.

Like I said, it's a troll. Read the stupid subject line. Only a troll would say that, imo.
