There are some specific categories of jobs where you can get that plus you have to work an x number of hours over a period of time to be eligible. Your temp job may have paid overtime through contract arrangements, not through legal mandate. You usually do not get overtime, unless you worked more than 40 hours/week. Virginia doesn't even have any overtime laws and only follows Federal laws. Also, if you work on holidays and weekends, those hours do not count towards the 40 required for overtime.
