Yes, it's called their hiring tool. When looking at a candidate who's available via the hiring app, I have the option to schedule an interview or just directly schedule for a job. I've never used this feature, but I assume the candidate needs to confirm the job and I suspect that's what's failing for OP. She books the candidate for the job and the candidate doesn't show - either by failing to confirm the job or just not responding to the request at all. That kind of failure to show is expected, IMO, because Care is not a back-up care service who last minute will send some one to your house. Care is not a placement agency who interviews and screens candidates ahead of time. I think it's odd that they offer this service, honestly, because they're not positioned to make it functional. |
As a part time nanny, I've only gotten 2 occasional sitting jobs from care.com. It doesn't really seem to work with this site or never any responses. Same with sittercity.com. I have over 20 years of childcare experiences too. I would think I would get emails. |
I have found three great babysitters through care.com. But, I wanted someone for an ongoing, fixed schedule for a few hours in the evening and I was able to post a job description and then get applicants. I also was able to search nearby sitters and reach out to them. Both times I got a lot of applications and I contacted a number of the sitters. Some of them never responded and a few of them set up interviews that they then didn't show up for. But, I was able to weed through those and find one really terrific sitter and two that are very good and all were local to me.
To the PP who was surprised that she applied to jobs on care.com and didn't get responses. I would say that it has to do with the volume of applicants a job gets and the fact that so many of them do not fit the job. I always post the exact times I need someone and people still apply that clearly don't have those times free or who live 30 or 40 minutes away and the job doesn't make sense. Its not possible to respond to everyone and I only respond to the ones that seem the best fit. You might just be getting lost in the volume of responses people are getting. |
