So true. What is the point of shelling out my hard earned dough to the government if I don't have equal protection under the law? I agree the nanny can't exercise her rights in this situation. Hope she is being paid off books for the trouble. |
You nannies need to form a union and then you would have protection. |
Actually, you nannies need to dial back your drama.
There is plenty of time for you to exercise your constitutional right to vote. In the two hours after your shift ends. Polls are open. Easy. |
I wouldn't ask her to take the children with her to the polls if they are too young, it may be disrupting and impossible for her to vote if they are there. How many and how old are they?
Do you have a nearby neighbor who can step in for an hour or so just for that day so she can vote? Where I live in, CA., we have the option of mail-in ballots...I am not sure if your State has this option and if so, if it is too late to do it. I know you hate asking your Mother for assistance, but to keep the peace this one time, you may have to ask her. Because if you do not, it sounds like the nanny will resent you for this and no one wants a resentful nanny watching their kids, right?? Unfair, I know but that is how it is unfortunately. |
She only has to take 1 child with her. She's already agreed to do it. I can't ask my mom to take off an entire day of work so the nanny can have an hour off (mom can't take just an hour off - someone has to come in to replace her and won't for just an hour). My mom helps her out all the time but this isn't really reasonable. If I had a neighbor to help out for an hour I absolutely would but we don't live in a neighborhood and only have 1 neighbor who definitely can't babysit. If I had a babysitter I could ask I would do that too but does anyone know a babysitter who will work for just 1 hour? |
