car seat installing RSS feed

Have you ever shown her how to install it properly?

OP you sound like a brat. If the seat only has to be installed once per week then take the few minutes and install it yourself. Why not give yourself the peace of mind knowing it was done to your liking? Instead of taking two minutes out of one day per week you are coming to the internet to blast your nanny. This is petty. You expended more energy on this thread then it takes to install the seat.

Have her come in a few minutes earlier on Mondays so the seat is properly installed.

Problem solved.

If the OP teaches anything like she types no wonder the nanny is confused.

Why is it absurd to expect that an employee be able to read and follow printed and demonstrated directions??

What is absurd is that there are nannies who can't and still believe that they deserve no less than $20/hr for their "services".

It's too bad isn't it. Don't you wish it was like the old days when you could beat them?

Back under the bridge for you troll!

Why can't you do it yourself?

Amazing that OP has hired a nanny who doesn't speak English well enough to install a carseat. What happens when she needs to call 911 and can't get English words out? She can't perform the functions of the job, period.

Obviously She would have to be paid for coming in early.

Wait, didn't you know that expecting a nanny to be able to communicate in English is akin to wanting to beat them? Apparently here on DCUM it is. You must be a troll too!

OP, you are talking separate issues. You should install car seat each week because it is for your convenience that its in the nanny's car in the first place. Her reading comprehension may not even be the issue seeing as many English speaking parents have said they have trouble with that model. Really, I think you are dissatisfied with your nanny's qualifications overall and the car seat thing is one example of when those deficits come to light. In other words, there must be something more going on then the two minutes it takes to put the car seat in.

If someone blindsided me Monday morning with their new car seat plan involving me installing it all the time before I go to the office, I would need a moment to understand why the sudden change.

Furthermore, to then discover a caretaker is incompetent at installed or adjusting or knowing how a car seat should be installed is a safety concern. And most parents put safety of their child above all else.

I'm in the practice makes perfect camp. I'd be surprised if a nanny did not WANT TO KNOW how a correctly installed car seat should look, especially if she is driving a child around.

Go to car seat.org and find a local tech to teach her. Is she installing middle seat or outboard? If middle with latch that could be the problem as few cars have latch in the middle and most don't allow you to latch borrow from the outboard seats this could explain why it's not installing properly. Have her try seatbelt make sure it's in the correct belt path and that she's only checking for movement at the belt path with her non dominant hand no firmer than a handshake. If you use to much force or check in other spots of the seat then it will move

I would be willing to come in a few minutes early to do a seat swap without pay as a compromise....

That being said I like the idea of 22:37
the seat issue is a simple fix.

But you probably have other issues with the nanny that are manifesting as the carseat conflict.

You put safety above all else except for when it means you have 5 less minutes to primp in front of the mirror Monday morning.
