You sound like a fair and decent employer OP and from what you described here, it sounds like your nanny is lacking integrity which to me is a huge deal-breaker and is grounds for termination.
She is obviously doing things behind your backs knowingly as well as possibly being negligent around your children. You could offer to let her stay, but only if you can use the nanny cam, but that will just anger her and she may harm the kids out of the camera's view. Your best bet is to let her go, no two week period. Reason being is if she is doing such a shoddy job now, trust me...It would get even worse while she was working her last weeks and it just wouldn't be worth it to keep her around. It may be a hardship, but try to find some temp childcare and start looking for a new nanny ASAP. And No, you do not have to pay this one any form of severance. She does not deserve it for her poor performance. |
