+1. We are Jewish and went to an Easter egg hunt and took pictures with the Easter bunny today. It was called the Spring Fest. |
The eggs, chocolate, and bunny all represent Easter and Easter is a holiday surrounding jesus. The spring and rebirth stuff was hauled out to smooth out the religious aspect of it. That way people can claim it's not religious. |
| We are an athiest family, but always celebrate religious holidays. My kids think Easter is a time of joy, Spring and fun. Why not? |
You have that backwards. It's not religious. It's a spring festival of awakening, birth, life and starting over. Of course christianity couldn't have let that stand so they took over the pagan traditions with their own. (Hello Sunday is the day most go to church .. why because pagans worshipped the sun, so it was an easy transition when christianity was being forced onto them). |
Never heard of a Jewish family doing this. |
My DH was raised Jewish, I am not but our kids do the eggs and baskets and such |
Correction: I have never heard of a family with TWO Jewish parents doing this. |
Well that's the Jewish people you know. Or they just don't talk about it because it's not a big deal. I know many Jewish people who DO go to Easter egg hunts etc. What does a big bunny have to do with the religious aspect of the holiday? |
