-10 degree weather in Chicago RSS feed

I'm in Minnesota. It was -20 this morning when I left for work. School cancelled statewide. You're having a heat wave compared to here. You should go to work, unless you have to walk there, naked.

Again, if it's icy and dangerous, then obviously don't go. If it's just the cold, then it's no excuse. Bundle up, get in your heated car, drive to your employer's heated house, and plan some indoor activities for the kids.

You sound ignorant and uneducated about Chicago. Crime rates are down and not any higher than other big cities. The only bad crime areas are the bad neighborhoods which every place has. Research before you spew off stupid remarks.

I'm in Chicago as well. My MB called and told me not to come to work today. We are in a state of emergency. CPS is closed today and tomorrow and that NEVER happens. You can get frostbite after five-ten mins outside. My neighborhood has 11.8" of snow and has not been plowed once. I have seen tons of car accidents and cars stuck on the snow. I understand where you are coming from.

This is the most negative forum I have ever seen.

Use your common sense and do what is safe. Weather conditons change and while it's truly very cold weather, if it's safe to drive, warm up your car and head to work. Let your employer know asap that you won't be in if there is a snow storm, or very icy roads. Or do what this Chicago girl did and move to Califorina! Oh how scary to drive on those icy roads!

I'm in wi it was -50 this morning with the windchill and guess what I went to work same as I did yesterday. Yes you can get frostbite in about 10 minutes but that's to exposed skin they have these new inventions gales hats gloves face masks scarves and jackets. If you wear layers and these new inventions you will be fine walking from your house to car and car to nf house.

Not at all, I have family in Chicago. I love the culture, food, music, but there's no denying that is one very dangerous city.

Most of us are in DC, where there is no more snow/ice on the ground. That seems to be the issue, not the cold per se.

You must be a " suburbanite" who thinks cities are " dangerous". Born and raised. Chicago isnt anymore dangerous than other cities like NY, LA, Miami, etc. Please don't speak on something you clearly have no knowledge of.
