To those of you who say $900 a month is dirt cheap for childcare have obviously never needed childcare.
I agree that that is not enough to pay a nanny, totally agree. But to have a baby or toddler and then have to find $900 a month for childcare is a lot of money. I used to be a nanny and am now a Mom. How many of you nannies could afford to pay out an extra $900 of your monthly income for childcare. Not everyone is rich but we all still want good childcare. |
$900 a month is cheap for childcare. Full time care at 40 hours a week for four weeks (minimum) is 160 hours. At $900 a month that's $5.60/hr MAXIMUM. No one here is suggesting child care is cheap, having kids is expensive, but that is a cheap daycare compared to others. Gosh. |
Wow.
I've worked at a daycare center and I don't think this place is licensed! |
I switch back and forth between beIng a preschool teacher and a nanny (for the past 20 years). Pros: Teachers are more respected by parents and receive legal pay and benefits, so much less to negotiate than nanny positions. Cons: teachers bust their backs and there's always another poopy diaper, and it's a lot grosser ( lice, sick kids, sick co-workers, & lots of cleaning to meet liscensing rules)! |
