Nannies, do you do mb's dirty laundry (panties, sheets, etc)? RSS feed

If when I do the babies laundry (twice a week), if MB or DB clothes are in washer I move it to dryer than fold and if in dryer I fold. I don't fold underwear I just put it in a pile, but I fold everything else. I really don't feel comfortable folding their under clothes. The maid does their sheets, blankets and towels once a week.

The housekeeper does their sheets. I don't go in their room for their dirty laundry but if it is in the laundry room I do it or if it needs to be switched over to the dryer or folded I do that also. It's really not that big of a deal. It's underwear people...grow up a little.

Next thing, you can wipe them. No big deal, it's just toilet paper.

Lol. You might want to draw the line somewhere, as one nanny already said.

Stop making nannies look like lazy idiots!

Its clothing. I've never seen anything gross doing laundry. Its not a big deal. I doubt this is your issue. If you are afraid of underwear, you could just ask to do everything but underwear. This wouldn't get you out of doing the work though which is really your issue.

Oh, are you the one at Starbucks last week, when I told you all about my issues?

No, just the children's clothes, bedding, ect.

However, sometimes I'll accidentally get an article of clothing from MB/DB in the mix. I don't know whether to pretend that I don't notice the skidmarks.

Lol I think it's ridiculous some of you nannies are too "proud" to fold someone else's underwear. How stupid. It's a job, and there are unpleasant things about EVERY job. I am not required to do the laundry, but I do it because it makes their life easier and I have enough downtown during the day to get it done at least once a week.

To each his own.

Seriously. Drawing the line at not doing laundry does not a lazy nanny make. There are just boundaries about what I will and will not do to make my employers happy. I do a great job caring for their kids, cleaning anything and everything kid related, and generally if I see something that needs to be done I do it, from loading and unloading dishes, picking up things they are low on, to taking the car to the car wash because its dirty and the kids love it. I do not, however, touch my bosses' laundry. I also don't wipe their butts, spoon feed them, or kiss their boo boos. The nerve!

Do you pay her well? Probably not.

Lol. Jack (and Jane) of all trades, is the master of none.

Yes, about once a week. I have a nanny/light housekeeping position and knew the job entailed all of the family laundry before accepting. Tbh, I was weirded out at first, but now it doesn't even faze me and absolutely, I am definitely paid appropriately and above average for my location.

12:29 again - luckily never had to deal with visibly dirty underwear...gross!
