What exactly do they mean by acting like an American? Adjusting accents takes years, people go to speaking coaches for this, 'm sure they don't expect you to magically lose the Irish accent and acquire a Southern one? If they do, you're better off with someone else.

Host mom here. OP - if this is true, I'd say get into rematch. I'm shocked that your LCC would say to work it out yourself (that's where my disbelief comes from). If your LCC won't help, call your agency's area manager or the agency directly and keep trying. Unacceptable for a host parent to say something like that.

OP_ They told me to work it out myself and do what the parents wish. They just don't want to get involved. They want to speak the way they do (they are from Georgia and have a strong Southern accent.
