Somebody needs to say it.

Just saw the clip. I don't think I could ever leave my child with someone I didn't know. What happened to family and friends?

This is what we are risking when we leave our children with total strangers. Let's finally learn something here.

She is probably illegal and cheap. Parents opting for the cheapest caregiver of their most precious possession.

Astounding. What a deal!?

If I had even a thought that my child "might" be in ANY danger then she
Would have been gone. Of course, I understand that you get what you pay for. I

Parents have absolutely no clue what's happening to their kids when they aren't around. No clue. All the background checks in the world don't help, and neither does how the person acts in front of you. Cameras are really important. Not hidden cameras, but cameras everyone knows about are so vital.

You are delusional.

If you don't have cheap (oh, affordable) babysitting, you can't afford the luxury of running off to the office.

I'm sorry but the majority of these incidents are done by illegal nannies who are most likely being VERY under paid. I'm not saying that makes it okay at all...but parents really need to stop taking the "cheap" way out.

You can't do background checks on recent immigrants who just got off the boat, with the broken English. So how can you pretend to care? Oh but wait, "my child can learn... whatever the nanny knows how to speak". Ok, heads up. Your child needs a basic command of English first, if you care about that. (Yes, I am bilingual.) You think you can flick on the idiot box to teach your child how to speak English? No.

I get where you are coming from but there are PLENTY of good nannies out there. It's a shame that these few horrible nannies make the rest of us good ones look horrible.

Not the PP you're referring to but just wanted to add that there are many good parents. Infact, billions of them, and just because a tiny percentage abuse their own kids doesn't make them all a risk. A nanny is far more likely to abuse a child, esp a baby, then a parent because they aren't her kids. Yeah most likely wouldn't abuse their charges.

More parents abuse there children then nannies.

Exactly.

This "I'll never leave my child with a stranger" thing is ridiculous. So you are going to homeschool? No college? You're child needs to learn how to trust other people? Most nannies don't do this, we only hear about the sour apples.

I would NEVER EVER hurt my charges. I've seen DB leave red marks on a 19-month-olds behind, the PARENT.

+1

To the poster who said that nannies are more likely to abuse their charges than parents are to abuse their children, I would like to see where you get that information from because I don't believe it.
