Letter to Santa RSS feed

It doesn't sound like the OP fired her nanny because she did the activity but because the nanny was argumentative about the OP's request that she not do this in the future. A professional nanny would have apologized and understood that if the employer wants to do this type of thing with the kid then in the future she'll ask first not act.

Unless OP sounded as antagonistic in person as she did on this thread, in which case even the best nanny would be flustered for being attacked for doing a quality activity with her charges. OP suggested that taking the kids to mail letters to santa was akin to the nanny pretending she's another parent (?!?) so I have a hard time imagining she broached the issue politely or acknowledged their necessary teamwork.

Well, it did not go well. She got very defensive and said that the kids really wanted to go do it. Talked to DB about it and we are letting her go on Monday. I'm setting up interviews with some of the other nanny responses we got when we hired her (it was only a few months ago).

I don't need a nanny who is trying to be a mom. That's my job. I don't care why she did what she did. She needed to say "sorry, I'll check in the future." Done.

I was being facetious when i said, FIRE HER. You sound like a truly dreadful person so you are really doing her a fxvor. Make sure you let the new nanny not to take them to see the Easter B
unny.

OP-to fire someone 2 weeks before Christmas is absolutely heartless, especially for such a trivial matter.
You sound like a huge pain in the ass. Your nanny is lucky to be rid of you and your passive aggressive bullshit.
You get what you give.

just wow.
a) she should have apologized and not gotten defensive but given your response I think it's highly likely you totally laid into her instead of just a simply "bummer! I was so looking forward to doing that with them. Next year please let us do it as a family in addition to x, y, z which are also family traditions."
b) But firing her over this is really just plain craziness. I feel bad for your kids, OP, as you will have a revolving nanny door if you keep doing stuff like this.

OP, I think you should just switch nannies with the Turkey craft lady in the other thread.

I think you should make a list of activities that you forbid your nanny to do with your children. That way she will know upfront (when you interview her) what her boundaries are.

Of course, nannies you present said list to will also know you are cray-cray, but that might be best for all involved.

WOW!!!!! Let me guess... You'll core the next nanny when your kids falls and instead of running to you they run to the nanny. Fireable Offence!!! Just another controlling mom/shrew.

Fire, not core

The OP of this thread is not Octotroll, but is a nanny who is a bit of a trouble-maker. I don't know about the Feather turkey mom -- point out the thread to me and I'll look.
