Nanny jokingly caling DD names RSS feed

Lately, my nanny has been calling my daughter "Bug" and "Buggy" as short for " Lovebug." It's gotten to the point that she calls her one of these more than her real name. We took a lot of time to pick a pretty name for her and it is irritating to have her substitute a nickname that has no relation to the real one. I think it is unprofessional.

This is why I only call my charge names when the parents are not around.

Get a grip lady. As a nanny who has called my charge Bug, I have also seen her parents call her Boo. Neither have anything remotely to do with her name. I really don't care if you would think I was unprofessional, my bosses know better.

OP I am someone who is sensitive about weight and would never refer to chunky monkeys however, I have worked for parents who have called their babies this.

So you are sensitive to some "cute" nicknames but fine with the ones you choose.

I called my charge "munchkin", then one day she said she didn't like to be called munchkin anymore. I stopped. No hard feelings.

If you don't like the nanny calling your baby those names, feel free to mention it to her. However, I must say that your nanny seems to be sweet and mean them as a term of endearment. I highly doubt it will affect her body image later on in life.

Nanny here-

That's really not okay and she needs to stop. Just ask her!

I call my charge Pumpkin and she calls me Muffin. If her parents asked me to stop, I would!
