Why would that make a difference? You are paying to have the same job done regardless. Just because it is easier for one person to do it than another does not change the value of the work being done. |
Despite it being the same job, in NW DC it is on average $80-85 a night for someone post-college, $70-75 for a college kid, and so a high schooler would probably be about $60. While it is the same job, you are paying for experience. For example, he high school kid might need to call mom and dad if anything out of the ordinary happens while the post-college adult is likely to handle most issues without help. |
NP and easier here equates to fewer hours. In the same context try hiring a handyman that's farther away vs one that's close. The closer one will likely offer better prices because they are spending less time + gas in transit to the job site. Agree with the other poster that there is some discount to be applied based upon the level of experience. I think $50 - $75 a night is a fair range depending in the number of times dog needs to be walked per day. I assume teen does not need to stay there all day, just at night. If you require their entire day the price goes up. |
$100/night |
$20/night and leave wine in the fridge.

How old is your dog? |
For our recent day trip, we paid $25 for neighbor teens to feed/walk dog before and after school. |
Just paid college age neighbor $65 a day for an 11 year old dog who sleeps all day. Job was basically letting the dog stay in the same room as her, asleep on her bed, and let her out twice a day into the fenced back yard. (The dog is very reactive to other dogs and surprisingly strong for her age, so DH walks her after dark. I can’t hold her, so we don’t feel like it’s safe to ask a pet sitter to walk her).
Slightly cheaper than the vet and a much nicer atmosphere for an older dog with separation anxiety. Win-win. |
er, yes it is. I live in the District, for reference, and that's the going rate for one dog. |
No, you're paying for the _work_. Has the litter box been scooped properly? yes/no. 45 year old Steve shouldn't earn more than 16 year old Sophia for scooping 4 turds out of the box each night. Did you dump 1.25 cups of dry kibble into the dog dish each morning? yes / no. 45 year old Steve shouldn't earn more than 16 year old Sophia for competently dumping 1.25 cups of kibble into the dog dish each morning. PP, do feel free to overpay 45 yr old Steve above the going rate if you believe that differential buys you insurance you hope you don't need in an emergency, and you believe you're paying that differential above the going rate buys "life experience" that would be an asset in an unforeseen emergency. But eff all of you who try to pay teens below the going rate FOR COMPLETING THE SAME TASKS competently. You're a bad person. |
