This is an individual running dog boarding out of her house. $70/night for a small dog, so $700 for a week and a half of vacation? Is this standard? |
I am close in DMV. I was quoted double that from multiple sources. I found a house/dog sitter. |
To live in your house, or just come and walk, feed, and socialize with your dog? Also curious how much it cost you. |
Yes |
That would be almost $1000/ week? I should be a dog sitter geez. |
PP here. I paid $700 per week. I have three dogs but taking care of one or three in my house is the difference of 10 minutes per day. Plus my dogs really prefer our house. For shorter trips, I bring people into my house 5-6 times a day rather than boarding them. But they are alone overnight which is fine for mine. |
13 years ago I was paying $65 per night to board my dog at a cage-free center. $70 today doesn’t sound absurd. |
My (wonderful) dog walking service also does pet sitting, and to send your dog to one of their sitters to stay it is $129 per night. It is more to have them stay overnight at your house.
Boarding at the kennel where my dog goes to daycare was about $90 a night, but that was a few years ago. A friend who does petsitting as a side gig charges $45 per night for care in the client's home. So it varies a lot. |
Yes, it is within range of what is charged for petsitting at a sitter's home. My SIL pays $75 for a 20lb. dog in Boston. I have paid up to $70 per dog per day in NoVA. Affectionate Pet Care in Fairfax--a cage-free boarding facility I have used in the past--charges $36 for the day + $25 for the overnight period, which comes to $61 for a 24-hour period. I have three small dogs, so when I travel I spend more on petsitting than I usually do on my airfare and other travel expenses. It is worth it to me because they are family. You can certainly find much cheaper home-based petsitters on Rover, but there's often a reason they are so cheap. |
I boarded my dog at it was almost as much as the 4 star hotel I stayed in per day. |
I pay $100 per night. This is at a boarding facility.
|
What area are you in? We were paying $65 a night in manhattan… in 2005, so almost 20 years ago! |
Yea, plus more for bath and treats |
My dog walker lives in my house with my two dogs. He charges $100 per night. He sends updates daily. He runs his own dog walking/sitting business. |
I’ve paid $75/night at three different places. 80lb dog. |
