Is a 4 year old too old for Duplos? Looking for a toy for my daughter, who's not very into either construction or pretend play. She does like Disney though, so I am considering this one toy but wondering, perhaps foolishly, whether she's too old for it.
My 8 and 9 year old go back and forth with them and legos. They still love them.
I think 3-5 the perfect age for duplos (at least that was the age range my kids wanted to play with them). They got a lot of use at our house. Our kids are now 8 and 6 and still occasionally pull out the duplos and my 4 year old nephew always plays w them when he is over.
Not too old. Duplo until age 5-6. No need to rush the small Lego pieces.
My kid dropped Duplos for Lego a little after her 4th birthday.
4 is perfect. The tiny little Lego pieces will drive you crazy, Duplos are much easier to tidy up.
Duplos are fantastic for my 4 year old. We won’t be switching to legos any time soon because we also have a 1 year old and I don’t want her around tiny pieces
Most 4 year olds likely prefer Duplo to Lego because legos are so small they can be frustrating. If she ends up liking it you'll probably get pretty good use until the later half of 5 or even early 6.

I don't think there is an upper age limit for Duplos. If they still play with them, don't worry about it.
We introduced legos at age 5 and at first there was little interest, but then by age 6 she was obsessed. We got rid of duplos sometime after that, not because she was too old, but because they never got played with. |

I think some kids who are avid builders have moved on to Legos at 4, but it doesn’t sound like that’s an issue.
However, in my experience, kids who like things like Disney often get more play value out of magnetized combined with little figures. |
Do you mean magnatiles?
Yes, I do! Autocorrect and I are not friends. |
4 is perfect for Duplos. Little kids get frustrated easily with the smaller Legos, especially the sets that have a lot of the really tiny pieces. I would say 7 is when they really start getting into the regular size Legos.
My 7 y/o loves Duplos and Legos.
Not too old. I'm an adult and have always much preferred them to Legos. There's a ball maze duplo set that's awesome.
