We moved recently from the city to a rural area. I love our new life, but still settling into new routines.
One thing I’d like is to be more deliberate with weekends and have more of a “template” to how I spend my time so I don’t waste time. So what’s your ideal weekend? Before, I used to do: - Friday dinner with friends - Saturday: visit family, hike, explore Sunday: farmers market, yoga, and dinner with friends Now, I like to: Friday night: relax Saturday: brunch Sunday: farmers market I need more ideas!!! What do you like to do? |

Why aren’t you hiking in your rural area? Or at least going out for a walk? Playing tennis? Meeting friends for one of those things or for dinner?
When it’s the school year we usually have at least 1 kid sport on Saturdays; another kid will have a play date or rehearsal and we usually have Saturday night as family time for dinner and a movie or game. Sunday we will go to farmers market, walk in the park or visit a museum or play a sport together/go biking, then often invite friends for Sunday night dinner. Friday evenings are often date night for me and dh and kids have activities or sleepovers. Our weekends vary a fair bit because we have a second home we travel to about half the time but that’s a typical stay at the primary home weekend. We often have a home project or major clean up to do at some point too, and kids have homework. |

Friday: eat takeout and watch a few good shows with DH
Saturday: garden, cook or bake and relax in bed for the day and read, watch a show. Sunday: church, brunch and relax in bed afterwards I’m a homebody! |
| The ideal weekend is a 3 day weekend. Because then you can do fun stuff on Saturday, relax on Sunday, and then do weekly prep stuff on Monday. This is the only weekend that allows me to actually feel like a human who can live a real life vs a cog in the work machine. |
+1. I like to putter around my house and do things on my own schedule - or not do things if I don’t feel like it. Not a big fan of weekend plans. |

Saturday: Sleep in until 9, have leisurely coffee and pastry and a book (in the summer, this happens outside in my backyard), then some sort of structured event; for us that’s usually 9 holes of golf, a drive around town where we randomly stop places that look fun (Trader Joe’s, B&N, a hobby store, etc.) followed by dinner out, maybe ice cream, and probably a walk in the late evening.
Sunday: Just relax |
