My 17-year-old and a friend will be seeing Beyoncé at FedEx field next month. I’ve heard parking at FedEx field is horrible because of post-concert traffic, so I’m trying to help them determine the best transportation option:
1. Kid drives and parks at Morgan Ave. metro station, and they walk to and from the stadium. 2. Kids take metro there, walk back to Morgan Ave. metro station after the concert, where I pick them up. First option is the simplest, but how early would they have to get there to get a spot? I’m fine doing the second but would love to hear from others who’ve done it to confirm that it’s feasible. Thanks! |

Don’t know what Morgan Ave is.
They should just metro to Largo and walk, |
| I would have them Metro to Largo. The walk from Largo is commercial, while the walk from Garrett Morgan is residential. |
| Drive them. |

Thanks for the replies. Metro will be closed when the concert ends, which is why driving and parking at a metro station or meeting one way with my picking them up for the return is necessary.
Well they be able to park at largo? Or will I have any trouble picking them up there? |
| We were just there for Ed Sheeran. If you park at the stadium and park near an exit (i.e., strategically park to be able to get out quickly vs. parking closest to the stadium entrance), it's not so bad. And much safer than any metro station walking late at night. |
Thanks. What time did you get there to get a spot near an exit? Also, I assume many people will be walking to/from Metro stations, meaning some safety in numbers…is that not the case? |
| Parking at the stadium is ridiculously overpriced and the congestion leaving is a sh*t show. Have them take the Metro out and pick them up. You should go out a bit earlier than you expect so you can text where to meet. Note the roads/lane patterns change after the show. |
Not the PP but we also went early to Ed Sheeran and parked near an exit. Got there around 3:30, opening act was at 6. Lot was mostly empty so very easy to get a spot. And easy to get out as well. But to answer your other question, yes there were tons of people walking to the metro station too. |
Excellent--thank you! |
This is PP you're responding to. I mean park near the entrance to the parking lot (i.e., closest to the exit to leave) rather than trying to find a spot closest to the stadium (i.e., where they'll have a shorter walk inside but a harder time navigating to the exit to leave at the same time as everyone else). I have never walked to the Metro from there so I'm basing my assessment of safety on the fact that if you park in the lot, your car is right there. |
