New Ideas in NOVA for Teen Boy Birthday Party

Anonymous
We’re stumped planning an August birthday for our soon to be 14 DS. He has done laser tag, Topgolf, a game truck, Dave & Buster’s and an escape room in past years. We suggested a movie, but he wasn’t interested in anything coming out. It will probably be just a few boys, but we can open it up if the event requires more people. If anyone has any ideas of new places, preferably near Alexandria, I would appreciate it, thanks!

Invite just a few and take them to a sports event-- Nats game? Or go to Bush gardens or kings dominion. Concert at wolf trap or something in DC?

14 seems pretty old for a birthday party, OP. My son has not been to an actual birthday party since about age 10.

OP here. Thanks everyone. These are good ideas for a friends outing for DS’s birthday.

Aww, sorry to hear that.

My 15 year old still enjoys attending and we get a good turnout when he hosts. The kids seem to be excited to attend, especially in the summer when they’re not all seeing each other all the time.

These have been some fun ones, and I think it’s also fine to re-do a previous option if he kids had fun!

Sandy Spring ropes course
Bowling
Top Golf (which you mentioned, but the boys seem to love it)

Some do. Some don’t. Just like some adults celebrate birthdays with friends and some don’t.

My oldest had a bar mitzvah last year at 13, and I’m done “parties” for him now. But I’m not done with taking him and his few good friends out for a fun activity of his choice for his bday.

My DS wants to do some rage room in PG County where you smash stuff.
