Well, considering they only started the girls academy program a few months ago, I’d say this is the starting line. Rev’s GA teams are brand new in 2024. None of the coaches or players were with Rev before 2024. And none of the players who were with Rev before 2024 are part of the GA teams. What happened is more akin to a acquisition than growth of their program. Rev acquired the majority of the GA program from FCV. We’ll see in years how that works out.

It's not the parents fault, that's what they were being sold and they believed it - competitive teams, GA level transfers from FCV (this wasn't the case based off some of the rosters)...maybe this weekend opened some eyes

When/where did i say that always happens? I'll wait... I clearly gave 1 example at 1 club of when that didn't happen.

I was simply responding to the assertation that "the child that deserves the promotion moves up" - I stated that i don't agree with that opinion and i was giving an example through personal experience where that wasn't the case. I'm trying really hard not to be condescending here, but if you can't read and understand what i wrote, i can't help you any further.

not necessary, i'm going to date myself with this comment. Back when Loudoun Red was the top team and Loudoun Black was the 2nd team. over the years (multiple kids playing soccer), we've know about 10~15 Loudoun Black players that never got an opportunity to move up to Loudoun Red leave the club and make the top team elsewhere on both the boys and girls side.

So no, i don't agree that "the child who deserves the promotion is the one who gets it" - that doesn't happen. Not bashing Loudoun in the example above, i'm pretty sure it happens at every club which is why you see a lot of movement from club to club and it's not just fringe starters looking for more minutes, it's legit talented players.

In most cases, the child you are talking about is not that interested in the sport. It’s the parent who has the interest. Rarely are kids on a second team when the deserve the first. Even in those cases the child who deserves the promotion is the one who gets it. You can game the system, but it won’t last for long if the child doesn’t put in the work.

I wish this area wasn't pay to play. I don't care about how many teams there are. I care that people game the system to get lesser skilled kids on teams and being starters over kids that are actually talented but parents don't know how to play the game to get their kids on top teams. If you look at standings second teams regularly. Outperform top teams at locally in the younger ages when they play top teams they are on par or best then. No second team should be level with the top team. Then those kids get pigeonholed into being second team kids with very little movement opportunities and clubs are more than happy to keep the subpar kids around so long as their parents are willing to keep shelling out the money.

Vrsc is no different sadly. We spend a lot of time there and have a hard time telling which teams are where on the totem pole just like at the last big club we were at.

Ok so you are a disgruntled parent, got it!!! Just to let others know the full tuition payment after the season has started is stated up front in the paperwork when you sign on to play. This is something that other clubs do as well.

Also, I have set in on many presentations and 95% of what was presented was truthful. As with any organizations things might have to shift and adjust as you roll out new programs etc.

If you hate VRSC and weren't happy MOVE ON don't bash a club all the time. You look very petty and full f hate.

i completely agree, ECNL consolidating teams is a good thing from a competition standpoint. I think if you're training everyday against the best players in the area it's only going to make you better vs if you're the best player on the team and have no one to challenge you, then you'll plateau. Also as a competitor my daughter wants to win, she doesn't want to spend a week traveling to get blown out, that sucks. We need less national platform teams in the area not more.

A lot of parents don't agree because it's less opportunities for their child to be seen by college coaches to play in college.

It’s kind of a chicken and egg problem. Without GA the club’s best players leave as they reach U13. You can’t expect instant success, takes years to build up the pipeline of players. And of course it’s about cash. Soccer clubs are businesses and parents are willing paying customers. Everybody knows that and no one is being tricked. Why does this all bother you so much?
