+1 My mom stressed the importance of what you said and getting an education that would enable my sisters and me to support ourselves. She also stressed the importance of dating and marrying a partner/spouse with good character--not the jerk type who runs around.

My parents too, but it was equal. She also stressed that my brothers needed to marry someone who could support herself and who did not expect or demand to be supported without contributing back.

PP here. I didn't have brothers but that's good advice. I do have friends who are SAHM, and they do an incredible amount of volunteer work and entertaining related to their husband's businesses. I think credit needs to be given to them as well.

Better to marry a man who doesn’t expect you do entertaining or volunteering to raise his children.

That is only true without a prenup. That is the whole point. You need to be a first wife, and sign nothing.

Really curious why attorneys wouldn't factor in inflation? $1.5 million towards a home is really not very much money in most major cities.

He would not have married her if she didn’t sign the prenup. She got the luxurious life she wanted for almost 20 years; now the agreement she signed so she could have the luxurious life goes into effect.

She took a risk, as did Marla Maples as 2nd wife to Trump.
