No one will be able to say, "They didn't even try!" or claim there weren't many cases in their elementary schools when 20% of the class is out due to symptoms or exposure. I also suspect FCPS knows there's a reasonably large contingent of parents who will pull their kids if cases start showing up in schools. It's much better for this to happen after school starts because it's a lot easier from a staffing perspective to lose students after the first month than it is to gain students.
