Were they playing down from a higher level team? If so: highly unethical and most people would avoid a coach with such questionable morals.

Did he bench the girls on the team and play the ringers in order to win 8-2? Yes, yes he did. Again, highly unethical.

Is he coaching next year for GFR?

team couldnt even field a full roster for ncsl games without guests. lower age GFR teams were in different tournaments this weekend. most guests were GFR B team players because these C team kids were begging for a tournament even though only 1 or 2 are returning to travel soccer.

he did not cheat, he had guest players - he's been with gfr like 3 months, calm down.

- How many kids are usually on a blue team 11 v 11 roster?
- When does practice start for the season?
- Do they do anything organized over the summer, like free play?
- I see they have an overnight camp, how would I know if my son’s team attends? For this one I’m guessing the answer is to ask the coach lol.

Thanks!

no residential camp this year sadly. NM is looking for a new location.
preseason camp starts in August. Super Y registration is still an option-info on gfr website

As to how many kids on the roster, it depends entirely on the age. My son’s hs aged team has 18 with an additional 3-4 dual rostered guest players if needed.

Practice typically starts in August

Never been to anything organized over the summer except if you are registered to play Super Y

Reach out to Coach about camp but you will certainly get an email about it. My son went twice and said it was mostly good only to bond with his team, so if the majority of the team isn’t going (which is likely) then it’s not worth it.

Do current team players all have offers by now? Or are any still in limbo?

Also some kids are being looked at for probably up to 3 teams across 2 age groups with the age change when they are a post Aug bday . If bubble 1st team player currently in older group . They are being considered for 1st or 2nd team in older age group or 1st team in younger group. Lots of coach communication needed especially when some coaches are new to club

My u-little got her offer this afternoon which is exactly what we were expecting. The coaches told us on Thursday at tryouts it would be “early next week” before offers were sent so Tuesday certainly fits that. Are the people who are concerned, boy parents, or girl parents?

There has been no communication about timelines and next steps for offers so it is becoming harder to convince people to stay when most girls tried out at multiple clubs and have multiple offers in hand with 48 hour acceptance windows. You can only keep interested clubs waiting for so long. If you are unsure of performance, PLEASE speak to existing coaches who have known our girls/families for multiple years or come to practices to see the girls in the scrimmages. But something needs to be done soon if you want to keep families.

A club that can’t get its act together with getting offers out should be the only red flag you need.

Oh stop. Tryouts just ended late last week. It is TUESDAY. An as mentioned, with the age change things are more complicated than they usually are. Reach out to a coach if you have a question about your individual kid.

Did tryouts end? I see that there's a 3rd session late April also for U15 and under

No, they didn't even actually end. That's why this is kind of crazy to be freaking out because in the middle of spring break people aren't getting offers after 2 tryouts. Our coach warned us it would be a few days with the weekend and spring break on top of the age group change and several coach changes. They don't want to just start sending offers, they're making careful decisions. Opposite of the red flag to me.

Most of the kids got offers on our team and there are many handfuls that have not. That is why people are frustrated.

well, if most of my kids "top" team got offers and mine hadn't I'd guess it's less of an administrative issue....
