I thought that was an interesting take and one I can totally see happening. There have been stories that have come out about how worried the GOP is internally with how the public is turning on Trump, including many of his voters. They were already worried about midterms and that's one of the reasons why they stopped doing town halls as well.
Not a chance of this happening. The egregious actions inflicted by this administration will not be forgotten. Everything prior to this bill and what’s to come will result in a midterm bloodbath.
The house still has procedural and substantive power to disrupt the bastardized bill. They could reject the Senate's version and demand further changes. They can obstruct legislation, demand recorded votes on procedural motions and amendments, toss in some irrelevant amendments, and delay conference committees. They should disrupt and delay!
Trump threatening Senate and House Rep seats is such an amateurish play. Double down on TACO.
Normal People are already horrified by ice’s actions. It’s going to get a lot worse when they get billions more for building up their gestapo and all the new facilities this will fund.
This has been years in the making. With the help of FOX, the Republicans have patiently built up to where we are at now. The Democrats made it easy-peasy to get to this point by falling out of touch with the average middle-class citizen who wants a good job, quality housing and reliable, affordable healthcare. The above is exactly what they wanted, and it's only beginning with ICE. Follow the money. It's not about illegal immigration and gays and transgender people and Communism and the war on Christmas and whatever other enemy or threats against American culture were conjured up, it's about a transfer of wealth to the billionaire class and forcing everyone to get in line with making it happen. The new facilities are not only for illegal immigrants rounded up by ICE.

This pea-brained, craven, coward of a Senator doesn't understand the primary requirement of her job, or wants everyone to think she doesn't.

That's not what she said (or did) and that's not what the Newsweek article says.
Actually, I can see her logic. The House Republicans have sworn up and down that they won't pass the Senate bill, they will work on it more. Which is what she wants. But if she had voted No, then the House wouldn't be able to work on it more and everyone, every Republican, would be stuck with nothing. In that light, her "reluctant Yes" makes sense. Depending upon what the House does.
The House is going to vote yes because House Republicans are more afraid of Trump than they are their own constituents (or Elon). Sad!
Maybe. But rather than pass it tomorrow, they may work on it more which would then lead to conference or sending a new bill to the Senate. There are major divisions in the House between the fiscal hawks and the moderates. And the Senate bill is worse than the House bill, for both sides, rather than better for either.
Trump is pushing the July 4 deadline but it's completely artificial. Delaying another few weeks would be fine.
If the bill goes to conference, it will die, because Americans are finally waking up to how bad this bill is for the country.
They'll cave. LaLota has already said he's a Yes. The rest of the SALT caucus will fall in line. Spartz is a Known to Fold-er. Massie is of course a No. Roy might pitch a fit, Biggs and Harris are KTFs as well. So, yes, there'll be a few amendments to save face (and they are in session, so need not take town halls) but they'll pass it.

What about capital gains tax for selling 2nd home?
Most DC resident will pay somewhere between 10,000 and 30,000 (closer to 10) in SALT every year, so instead of the standard deduction, they will be able to deducts both their property tax and their D-40 state income tax each year, if it comes to over $27,000, then they itemize it and take that instead of the standard 27,000 deduction.
Yep. A lot of people in rural districts losing Medicaid and snap so I can get more SALT.
