I see nothing wrong with this.
My kids played SYA rec for several years before they played Valor and we never met or saw a Valor coach "assisting" with their teams. only volunteers. Didn't see any Valor people at all until tryouts. My sister coached a season and the coaching class was run by the head SYA soccer guy, not Valor. (the all star coach was a teenager and he was paid.)
I think you just don't know how to identify these folks. RO who runs SYA also works for valor. He isn't in a valor uniform but typically just a black on black adidas outfit. The all star coaches are valor kids, and the people running the tournaments are all SYA/valor mix. Rec league coaches are not affiliated with valor but the refereeing program is.
Soccer academy which is heavily promoted by valor and SYA (not sure about CYA) has an affiliation to one of the VALOR coaches.
BTW I would not recommend any Soccer academy program. Take your money to SYC if you are in need of a soccer summer camp.

they have an instagram feed right on the home page that shows a guy named Stevie Alabi
He's coaching the gold team. There are 3 other teams in that age group-2014 girls.

What tournaments? The in-house SYA tournaments are not run by Valor. The All Star coaches are being paid, they aren't volunteering their time for free.
These all star tournaments are not run by paid coaches. They are usually some volunteer dad coach that the group coordinator selected. And that dad is most likely someone doing it to get their kid on the team. Those all star rec tournaments are nothing like a travel tournament and are a complete farce. They are never the best players in the league. They are the coaches kid and her best friends.
This is true but starts at and above U-10. All younger Rec All Star teams are coached by Valor kids or other coaches that the SYA Director RO brings in.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I remember my kid played against the 2009 team when they were SYA. They had a lot of talent on that team. Seems like Valor did a good job pushing them out.
Some of talented players went to VDA. They had a bad coach when they were SYA who is now being roasted in another thread.

I have coached several SYA rec tournaments and was never paid. The teenage kids get community service credits hours.
Are you talking about coaching rec All Star teams?
