Short of nominating one of their own, is there a way to appease them? I was thinking they just want a scalp, but if Scalise is also not acceptable, then that theory is out the door.


Don't know and it appears the pro-McCarthy faction doesn't know either. It seems like McCarthy has agreed to every demand they've made and they are still voting against him. It's possible it's just a personality issue so Scalise or someone else may be able to break the logjam. But I've seen a number of the HFC saying they'll vote against Scalise too. Who knows. They're crazy and crazy doesn't make sense.


They don't trust McCarthy to follow through on any deal that he makes

None of this is the responsibility of Dems. They will let the dumpster fire burn after years of “Dems in disarray” narratives. There’s few on the other side of the aisle who can be trusted, much less rein in the MAGAs.
