Largely symbolic act. Why symbolic?

The GOP is protecting the culprits.

Good. Here’s a man low enough on the totem pole that no one will feel bad about prosecuting him. Better check how many followers he has on Twitter first. Wouldn’t want to arrest an influencer.

There are so many of these horrible people and so many revelations about what they were up to.

Second jury verdict for a January 6 trial:

The rot in law enforcement needs to be addressed. He thought that they’d just hold the doors open for him, really?

Rep. Liz Cheney said Sunday that the House Jan. 6 select committee has enough evidence to refer former President Donald Trump for criminal charges.

But the panel hasn’t made a decision on how to proceed on a referral, Cheney (R-Wyo.) said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” Her acknowledgment follows a Sunday report in the New York Times that said the committee is divided on whether to move forward with the largely symbolic act, as some members of the panel worry it would unnecessarily politicize the Justice Department’s investigation into Jan. 6 just as it seems to be heating up.

It’s sad that Congress is afraid to point out that Trump broke laws because they’re afraid of the political blowback from the looney right wingers

“Looney right wingers” still lets the “normal” right wingers off. Why are Mitt Romney and the other less freakish Republicans still Republicans? After their party tried to overthrow the government just over a year ago, why aren’t they “Independents” now? Great so a few Republicans are willing to make motions, sometimes, toward country over party, but overall… they’re all looney. The GOP has moved on and doesn’t give a rat’s about this. They’re freaking nuts.

If I know about a crime and do nothing about it I'm an accomplice. They are not nuts. Republicans are criminals. I make no exceptions.

Oh, I agree. I just think this letting Republicans like Cheney and Romney off the hook because they’ve made the most basic gestures toward being American first, Republicans second is sickening. No elected person should be calling themselves a Republican if they believe in the US. What the GOP did - is doing - was so over the top that the likes of Cheney and Romney need to stop pretending that the GOP can be salvaged. It can’t. The party is dead. It’s just a matter of how long it takes the zombie to finally fall (and how much damage it can do until then).
