The obvious question is, PP, why read them?

I'm so glad we moved to a great public school district. These postings make me sick to my stomach.

18:48, I don't think there's any advantage in trying to touch base now -- all of these admissions offices are exhausted from the recent decision meetings and are still working on welcoming the recently admitted families and then potentially making waiting list determinations. I don't think you have to wait for an open house though -- just until the fall. The one exception might be if your child plays a sport at a high level -- you might contact the athletic department to see if there is a protocol on establishing lines of communication with the coach in that specific sport. The same might be true if your child is a superstar artist/singer, but sports is where you here of this sort of contact the most.

Did Beauvoir's outplacement coordinator tell you this? First time that I've heard this.

Looking ahead to next year's admissions (9th grade) -- any advantage to touching base with the office before the fall? Should an open house be our first contact with the school? TIA

Presumably all the Beauvoir boys were informed in January. Does St. Albans waitlist some Beauvoir boys in January such that they don't receive a definite answer until March when the non-Beauvoir letters go out?

Some Beauvoir boys will get a letter before Christmas which all but promises a spot for them in C form. That usually happens for about 5-10 Beauvoir boys.

No, and we probably won't know until April or so, when everyone has heard from all schools and financial aid has been determined.

Back to the St. Alban's thread---- does anyone know how many Beauvoir boys are joining C Form next year?

Wouldn't it be better to move to Montana or South Dakota or some other "underrepresented" state? Don't they like geographic diversity? They did at the law school, that's for sure. I'm pretty sure that's how I got in! Sometimes I think being top dog from somewhere else -- most anywhere else -- would be better than being one of the many superstars from around here.

A quick search reveals that 12-14% of Harvard's freshmen are legacies, so 86-88% aren't.
