Everything in her life is a disaster - her film, her flop album, her flop tour, her marriage.
She was just at a career peak last year. The Mother was one of the most seen Netflix films last year. Marry Me also did very well. She’s had career highs since American Idol without missing.
It’s amazing how just reviving the ghost of the Bennifer media phenomenon derailed her fantastic career at 50+

who is loving Britney? she gets pity, at best.
She isn’t bashed for not being able to sing or her parenting the way Jennifer is .

A kick ass movie where it was mostly her was Peppermint in 2018. Critics didn’t like it but it was exactly what I expected.
Sadly I think most female celebs give up career once they have kids. I don’t think JLo did that and there is nothing wrong with that. And nothing wrong with Garner putting kids first (although maybe she had to since Ben had his problems).
I wish we saw more of each in movies of tv shows.
It’s amazing after 40 they can still get roles in Hollywood. Actresses life span in movies usually was about 30-40. The actresses of today are changing that. This is why Jen Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have created there own production companies and shows.
Agree her career has been one in 10 million and I don’t get the snobbery or fussing about her “mom roles.” She’s had a steady acting career. Also don’t forget she launched a successful business with her organic kids food thing. Her whole thing these days is being relatable mom. That’s the image she is trying to promote and I think very much who she is. If she walked around constantly looking glamorous and red carpet ready dating an a list actor or athlete she’d not be relatable, would not have a deal with the credit card company, wouldn’t be able to get 10 million hits on Instagram from her pretend cooking shows which are very much her being a regular person in her kitchen making mistakes and messes.
This is a person who has a lane and stays in a very well. Kid movies and mom roles are very much her brand. She probably does have to make some trade offs but it seems like she’s fine with it.
The "mom role" stuff isn't snobbery. Being pigeonholed as a "mom" or a "girlfriend" is professionally limiting. You can play a mom without winding up in the kind of schlocky family movies Garner makes, where she's not playing well-written or nuanced characters, just mom stereotypes. Like Edie Falco has played a mom a bunch of times in her career, but there's a huge difference between Carmella Soprano, Nurse Jackie, and playing a fictionalized version of Pete Davidson's mom in Bubkis, and the kinds of roles Garner gets.
It's not snobbery about mom roles, it's just realism.
But not everybody wants to be a critically claimed actor their whole life. I mean, frankly there’s not nearly as many big money promotional deals if you’re doing that. Do you see Meryl Streep doing credit card commercials or selling hair products?
Jenn did a few rules like the kingdom and Juno where she got to show her acting chops. Now she clearly wants to run a business, partner with brands, Have a big Instagram presence. Frankly, it sounds less stressful and trying to raise kids than having to go deep into characters for months at a time.
I think if she had wanted to focus more on the critically acclaimed roles route she would’ve made different choices.

She was very likable in the reboot season of Party Down. Ultimately it was sort of a thankless role, but she was very charming in it.
