That’s the valor way. Scamming parents out of money for the last 3 years. Sad I am not surprised by this.

We have league games but our coach is bottom of the barrel and of course you never find this out until you pay. (by the way before people comment that’s what you get on a lower team. This is a gold team coach.)

My advice for parents is when you are at games, you start being more aware of the coaches your kids are playing against. See how they interact with their players. See how they interact with their parent and refs. Go over there and make a connection. if it is a club you can make work travel wise to go and attend practice. Put yourself out there to make connections with other clubs and get to know the coach. The club Overall doesn’t matter as much if the coach is fantastic. Unfortunately the fantastic coaches that Valor has are all leaving or in our case Coach younger teams.

Agree, we are already working that angle. We even have a few tentative offers set in place before tryouts and have a more substantiated clear understanding of my kid's performance peer group of what that ought to be. Curious if Valors offer would even come close to that validated expectation. I doubt that. I can't wait until tryouts to see what's what. I've done my homework.

-If you haven't done so already, other parents on here should do the same. You don't owe anything to any club. The only commitment you have is to ensure your kid is a high-level player, practices extra hours, puts in the work and improves. I've learned no club will dramatically improve your kids' performance. Be your own devil's advocate. Does he/she belongs on travel? If you make that wrong assessment, a club takes your money, and your kids sits on the bench the whole season or gets less minutes...should you be upset? If the player is improving on the field, during practice and the coach/club doesn't respond to that, then time to find a new home.

-If your kids got potential, go get him/her looked at by other clubs to understand his/her level of play. Then you will understand where they sit in terms of their peers.

In summary, I would not wait for Valor or any single club to be the end all be all determination. You always get 3-4 quotes/estimate when contracting anything out to ensure if that message is relatively the same. This should be no different.

My kids played SYA rec for several years before they played Valor and we never met or saw a Valor coach "assisting" with their teams. only volunteers. Didn't see any Valor people at all until tryouts. My sister coached a season and the coaching class was run by the head SYA soccer guy, not Valor. (the all star coach was a teenager and he was paid.)

I think you just don't know how to identify these folks. RO who runs SYA also works for valor. He isn't in a valor uniform but typically just a black on black adidas outfit. The all star coaches are valor kids, and the people running the tournaments are all SYA/valor mix. Rec league coaches are not affiliated with valor but the refereeing program is.

What tournaments? The in-house SYA tournaments are not run by Valor. The All Star coaches are being paid, they aren't volunteering their time for free.

I have coached several SYA rec tournaments and was never paid. The teenage kids get community service credits hours.

Are you talking about coaching rec All Star teams?

I am not sure what tournament or events they do now. They differed a lot throughout the years and i believe rotate to give other clubs an opportunity to host. But during our stay at SYA we have been to multiple all star tournaments throughout nova and some of these were ran by SYA and that is how we came in contact with VALOR. These were tournament style event. Meaning it wasn't just in house teams. SYA has also held scrimmage feast at some point too.
Also in partnership with CYA and Valor SYA holds some fathers day fiesta tournament?
If you do not believe that SYA and VALOR have some form of alliance you are strongly misunderstanding their business structure.

Also just because the kids are valor kids that are coaching doesnt mean they aren't paid.

Soccer academy which is heavily promoted by valor and SYA (not sure about CYA) has an affiliation to one of the VALOR coaches.

BTW I would not recommend any Soccer academy program. Take your money to SYC if you are in need of a soccer summer camp.

Pretty sure its run by one of the TD's relatives.

The allstar coaches are valor kids that are paid. Not sure why you assume they are volunteering their time.

HOWEVER I will add I have heard that some valor kids do volunteer at SYA for the all star tournament for some school credits. So some are paid and some aren't and it depends on the tournament.

I agree, emergencies happen. This is a pattern of behavior, zero communication with the parents and not a one off situation. PE has been made aware of the situation and nothing has changed.

Familiar with this. Last to know.
