Pretty sure she was planning to retire after these Olympics anyway- actually in some interviews she indicated how hard the year delay was for her.
Yeah, she's 24 years old. There was little chance she was going to stick around until paris. Maybe as an event specialist in vault, but highly unlikely as an all arounder, which is much harder on the body.
