You don't get it. This issue is not going away and we are not going away. There is a reason Youngkin won. If you cant read what is happening right now, then you are blind.
McAuliffe carried Fairfax handily so if the same voters turned out in 2023 theoretically someone as bad as Tholen could get re-elected.
However, I think the voters that turn out during an off-year election will be especially motivated to replace her, and certainly many of them would bring up her failings regularly during a campaign if she were conceited enough to run again.
The fact that she only interacts with Dranesville parents now in "moderated" PTA sessions where she gets to screen questions in advance and only answer those she wants to discuss suggests that she would struggle with a re-election campaign.
Yes you are right - and I am referring to a pattern here - growing anger -- and it is all local. Yes McAwful won Fairfax, but not by as much as he would have a few years ago. We have 2 years before Tholen is up for reeleaction - she and the board will continue with their CRT, progressive, agenda. Over the next two years, more and more people, like me, will grow tired and frustrated. My comment on "you are blind" refers to that trend.
As an analogy, if we were to have two more years of a progressive, Moon-Walking, black-face wearing, K, K, K uniform-wearing governor, and Democratic control of the House/Senate, Im not so sure McAwful would win Fairfax in 2023. The trend of growing anger would continue. I think that is what we will see with Tholen. Given all the stupid she has in store for us between now and 2023, the anger will continue to grow, and sworn Democrats will abandon her in higher numbers and with greater frequency between now and 2023.

With the election in Nov 2023, Im guessing she will try and float through 2022 and see which way the winds are blowing in Jan 2023; basically see if anyone remembers her actions (i.e. inactions) during the pandemic. And of course she will have to avoid any new mistakes in 2022.

Neither Vance, nor Elaine, nor MCA or GFCA was at fault.
That capacity situation was created by Platenburg, Brabrand and the previous board.
The current board needs to expand McLean regardless.
I still agree with you that platenburg is at the center of this whole mess, but Vance carried the flag for platenberg's faulty numbers, elaine's faulty logic, and branband's faulty leadership. He became the "parents" in elaine's crap narrative when she noted that "many parents want a boundary change" Vance failed MHS.
If you really want to stretch the story-line, the next biggest criminal is strauss - she ignored this whole issue for decades, threw a last minute PoS to elaine in the form of a boundary study, and then had a room named after her at MHS. What a failure strauss was and is.
Strauss tried to amend the CIP in 2018 (iirc) to make a boundary change and add apartments to Langley.
The board put the kibosh on it because they were about to start the process of changing policy to allow them to nuke the boundaries and redraw the entire county.
It’s been a shit-shoe for a long time. Won’t rehash all the missteps, of which there were many by several SBs controlled by Democrats who paid scant attention to Platenberg’s inept management of facilities. Just want to see as many of them as possible gone in 2023.
Yes yes - and the SB began by booting brabrand. They told him to get lost - one wonders why? Maybe because he failed in epic fashion over the last two years. The irony is that the SB probably doesnt fully realize that many parents feel towards them the way they (the SB) feels about brabrand....it is time to boot them all, starting with Elaine.
Brabrand was a disaster when it came to facilities/boundaries issues. He flat-out refused to exercise his authority to make administrative boundary adjustments, claiming boundary adjustments were entirely up to the Board, and then deferred to Platenberg when it came to where FCPS should spend its capital dollars.
So he basically did nothing useful in an area where theoretically his prior familiarity with FCPS as a teacher and principal prior to taking the Superintendent's position would have been an asset. I'm tempted to say it would be impossible for his successor to do any worse in this area, but with FCPS these days you never know.

The recall has been run by parents with kids in fcps public schools. All volunteers.
Like it or not, the recall petitions are truly grass roots, started by democratic moms who voted for Biden with their republican neighbor and friends, several of whom also voted for biden.
The parents willing to sign their names to a public recall petition are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to people in that area who want to see Tholen’s time on the Board come to an end.
