First game against SJC. We'll get a good idea pretty quickly if those dogs are legit. SJC has been getting after it for a while with skills and lifting as they have a killer schedule.

you are right about that.

When you turn 18 in the Fall of your junior year, you are considered an adult.

My son graduated at age 18 (turned 18 a month and a half before his June commencement).

The coaching staffs at High Level D1 programs seem to disagree with the bitter parents on this board. Can't figure out why these kids who are done developing keep getting offers to the best programs in the country.

Kids who have either reclassified once or even twice, their play generally beings to "diminish" or certainly stand out less as they progress to upperclassmen. THe kids who are of regular age, being to catch up in physical maturity.

The 15-year-old 8th grader at Mater Dei no longer dominates when he is a senior.


Every time I hear a Mater "delay" Dei 15 year old 8th grader I just get a chuckle. It is ridiculous! I hope it was enough delay to get those academics in order. SJC and Prep are getting some big and at times average size boys regardless of the delay.

People may cli the holdback levels off in HS but most of the DC dogs players are very legit. Look at the top D1 schools that they committed to. Those coaches did not see a huge drop off.

Yes, I would imagine a lot of the Prep holdbacks who are juniors are not going to experience very big bumps in the level of their play over the next year or so.

Much of this will change after this season when the NCAA takes up the proposal to change the transfer portal rules substantially tightening the ways/rationales one can use to leave school 'a' for school 'b'
