They do but they really only take freshmen that will play. Similar to the other big schools (SSSAS, GC, Visi) they have more depth and playing time is important so they have swing players to make sure they play and don't just sit the bench all spring.
Putting Visi in the class of other area “big schools” is a stretch. Visi had losses to Potomac and SJC last year. Not ranked in top ten either.
Current Visi parent - I think they will have a good team this year, maybe even very good. They underperformed last year so hopefully they can get some of their momentum back. Big question is do we have any talent coming in to next year’s freshman class?
You will.
The Visi "recruiting" process was abysmal. They could not have done worse if they tried. It would be crazy if Visi somehow ends up with the strongest 2028 recruiting class (other than Battlefield, of course).
Yes. Not good. Hopefully they can regroup but I think the 2028 class may be lost.
I am not really getting that vibe. I think Visi may sneak out a strong class.
Where do you think they are coming from? They are not coming from the top MD teams unless a few are going from Heros. So you are left with Pride and Stars. Most of the top stars girls are public school girls. So a handful from Pride is what will be making up that class.
I think the Hero’s girls are going to public school.
I think some will likely go to McDonogh and/or Glenelg based on what I have heard. But I am sure a good portion will go to public.
Hero's to Maryvale is a big pipeline.
Of course, the Hero's Maryvale pipeline is big Brian Reese is the coach at Maryvale he is Cathy Reese's' husband and their daughter plays for Hero's. My guess is had he stayed at Glenelg Country that pipeline would be to Glenelg Country rather than to Maryvale.
Yes. Maryvale will be stacked if some of the ‘28s go there from Hero’s.
Already stacked with top 2027 HG kids, and now that becomes the issue, how many are going to continue the pipeline when PT will be in short supply.

What is Battlefield? VA public?
Yes, Battlefield is a Public School in Prince William County. They play in a terrible district and Region, but have started to play more Fairfax teams. They have been solid for the past several years now. If you read a few tags above, they will have about 7-10 girls that play travel coming in the 2028 class. The question will still be, can they win the big game
No
VHSL is changing the way they do brackets for better balance. So they will have to win multiple big games in the tourney now. And the answer remains unlikely. Some of those 8th graders will eventually transfer to privates like PVI, Potomac or BI based on what I am hearing (just like the last good class of 2025’s who had a top attacker and goalie leave).
Thanks Ken
