It is absurd that you try to help fellow passengers on the subway and end up facing manslaughter charges because some lunatic who’d been scraping by on the edge for years finally tapped out.

I'm not that poster, but I don't think you have to wait until you think you are about to die before you begin the defending yourself process. In that scenario, if I had a weapon and the homeless person spit on me, my next move would be to make sure he knew I had a weapon.

Uh, there is nothing to indicate that PP is violent. You, on the other hand, seem to have a hair-trigger impulse towards it.
Justice does not need to be violent. You, on the other hand, are excusing any violence short of murder, which is despicable.

Couldn't it be argued that the victim had no business "being out in public" because he was harassing and threatening subway riders and he had 40 prior arrests for his actions on the subway including multiple assaults ?
The failures of the criminal justice system and the failures of the mental health system placed too many people in jeopardy--including the victim.
No, it was not a justified killing unless one or more riders reasonably feared for his/her/their life.
If the former US Marine is convicted, the situation can be addressed by the sentence which should be minimal in my opinion.
Riders on the bus have stated they were fearful.
I doubt he will be convicted. If even one of the jurors is a subway rider and knows the dangers riders confront, there will be no conviction.

Isn’t that the whole reason to kill someone who is attacking you? That you’re scared for your life?
I’d do it in a heartbeat with no remorse if someone was attacking me.
According to the experts here, you can't use lethal force unless the attacker is just about to deal a fatal blow. That means you wait until you see his trigger finger move, and then you shoot the gun out of his hand. Simple really.
