For those wondering about Level III as an option for next year...that deadline has passed, letters are being sent now from the school for eligibility. I'm assuming this is only done in the May-June timeframe yearly?

I would say just trying to find strength of your kid, see what he likes.
Help him with those

I would suggest that just work a little harder at home/after school. you kids will excel in gen ed if our parents get involved more. getting to the aap is not a 'done' deal either.

For those whose appeal is rejected, here's what I would consider.

Look into private schools (to get a sense of tuition, academics, all sorts of things) to see if that is right for your child.
I would also speak to the public school principal or vice principal. Ask what options there are for a child who has an interest in, or excels in something(s).
See if you can determine who is a great General Ed. Grade 3 teacher (or whatever grade) and advocate for your child to get in that class next fall.
Look at enrichment camps (academic, arts, science, whatever) for the summers.
Find out if you can try again at a later date (I think you can).
If your local school doesn't have many options in your local school, move to (rent?) a neighborhood public school that has a good reputation for excellence with Gen. Ed. kids.

Some of these might not make sense for ones situation and there may be other options?

This is so very true. But what about these parents? Some will be devastated.

how do kids get selected for Level III. Is it also based on nnat, cogat, grs etc.?
