That video was sooo uncomfortable to watch; she called them "cute" a couple times. So patronizing, an author with heart should have some humility.


i thought the same i.e. “they’re so cute! they’re so funny!” what the heck?

and the whole premise of the vid “can you BELIEVE i’m actually going to this persons book club? When i said yes they were all just STUNNED and SPEECHLESS!”

They also are so strange about sexuality. I do remember her posting something once. Something like she was making breakfast for the kids. Brandon walks in and maybe kisses her, and she asks “Babe, did we make out or was I dreaming? That was pretty hot!” In an effort to gross the kids out and also be the cool parents that are also still in love it’s each other.

I had the same thought about the house she’s staying in. It looks dreary and sad - almost like this is a work trip and these are the accommodations that are being paid for. Why isn’t she staying on the lake?

Yeah- this made me laugh too. No, Jen, you’re not an introvert. That feeling inside about not liking other people? That’s because you’re emotionally unhealthy and kind of mean.

She has not interacted with his Facebook page in months. Even the Pride and music theatre appreciation posts.... and the one where he's going into a CAT Scan tube. Hmmmmmm.... Will he be making an appearance at Me Camp?

I wonder how much Tyler being non existent in her life is causing her to spiral. I think she’s like a lot of people who throw themselves into a relationship with someone radically different and the loudly tries to proclaim everything is wonderful despite dying inside.

I don’t believe she’s happy with a forever bachelor type of guy. And I think it’s slowly killing her.

Heck, if this were 2015 and someone invited her to my book club, I’d probably be interested. I’ve never read any of her books but I’ve read enough of her online posts in the past to believe there could be something to learn from her experiences as a writer and published author. I think she would’ve had some interesting commentary on our book selection.

Yet, I’m almost certain that this current me camp book club followup post will be little more than a display of fake fangirling and new darling besties forever talk ala “we wept, we laughed, we danced”.

I agree about Jen. She has such warmth about her and was a great story teller. She also seemed much more humble and self-aware. I recall she had friends then too, but there wasn't this obsessive need to brag about all her friends and post girlie photos like a middle school girl who wants you to know she's popular.


In her earlier books, she wrote about her friends being very supportive to her in various, normal ways, and how they would band together and pool resources to help folks in their community, like single moms who were quietly having food insecurity or general needs, like dishes, etc. No fanfare, but just friends doing good work in the name of Jesus. Even her anecdotes about Tray and his pager were actually funny. But these were Interrupted and 7 stories- so I wonder if she changed editors after them?
What bits I read of subsequent books were just family stories and increasing braggy content, without much warmth or relatability or much of a point, really.

Jen is in a real prison. Her lifestyle is increasingly dependent on maxing out what she can wring out of her tribe. But the large media deals aren't there anymore so it's more and more and more constant shilling.

Jen also desperately needs constant narc supply. The validation and approval of the masses is a drug to her. It's a terrible cycle, though, and very bad for one's health and ultimate mental health.

The money plus the fuel she needs is a bad bad combo.

But to stop it all and try to find a real peace in private is a sacrifice too dear for her to really consider, unfortunately.
