I was dreaming about whether I had enough potatoes this morning when I woke up.

You’d rather die than eat pasta? Mmkay.

Have a lot of food ready and was all set to stay home proactively but now wondering about the water thing. Probably only have enough for a couple days and initially thought that was sufficient but then talked to a woman at Costco with a cart full. She has family in China and they have been telling her about major water disruptions. So now I wonder if I should head back out. How much are others getting?

Wegmans Fairfax has Family Pack toilet paper if you need it. $15.99.

Lots of water cases. Lots of Powerade/Gatorade.

Limited soap.

I love this thread so I'm going to just list the things I have been stocking in much larger than usual quantity. Some last longer than others. Would love to see others for ideas.

buying cucumbers by the truckload
oranges and apples (tons in fridge drawer and on counter)
potatoes, onions, carrots, some celery, garlic, ginger
frozen broccoli, peas, corn, a few other veggies
frozen berries, cherries
apple sauce
canned mandarins
canned beets, tomatoes
jarred olives, artichokes, pickles
buying more milk than usual + some milk boxes
eggs
coffee and powdered creamer
black beans
rice
pasta and marinara
everything bagels (frozen)
cereals
lots of lunchbox snacks like chips and cookies
brownie mix
extra veg oil, olive oil, vinegars
frozen chicken breasts
frozen juice concentrate
tons of soda and sparkling water and snapple

medicines and tp and paper towels of course

I don't typically cook every meal every day so I'm now trying to figure out how to keep everyone fed with a minimum of fuss. Breakfasts are covered, but otherwise, my brain is frozen.

Pasta, rice, a few different sauces, a few different proteins, frozen veggies...then throw together whatever sounds good at the time

Thank you

Generally speaking it's good to have at least 3 days of water on hand at any given time, roughly 1 gallon per person. In this situation we are current in, with a virus, I wouldn't be stock piling water. Easy to prep food? Sure. I want to stock whatever ensures we don't have to enter a store if the virus really explodes.

Right. For most people this is just a reminder to have some water on hand.

I haven’t heard of anyone picking up more than a case or two. I’m sure some are stockpiling (along with their bullets & MREs), but not most.

The faucet. It won't run out.

Guess you've never experienced a hurricane or derecho or boil advisory?

Or live in an apartment building that uses a water pump?

You should get out more.

Is coronavirus going to cause a hurricane?

Please enlighten us, oh wise one.

So the answer is no? How old are you to have never experienced any of those things?

And you certainly don't need to have any water on hand. That is absolutely a choice you can make for yourself.

But stop sh1tting all over other people's reasonable preparations, following FEMA basic guidelines for emergency preparedness (https://www.ready.gov/kit).

I lived in the Caribbean for a couple of years. We had numerous hurricanes including a category 5 hurricane. We didn’t have electricity or running water for over a MONTH. So I am well versed on how to prepare for a hurricane, thank you very much.

Given that, it's very odd that you don't think anyone should have any extra water on hand. And that tap water will always be available.

You see no difference between a CAT 5 hurricane and a virus?

The water on hand is not specifically for the virus.

Go catch up on the earlier posts on the thread, grasshopper.

You mean all the rando, unsubstantiated hysterical theories? PP would be better off skipping that nonsense, lol. I come back to this thread for entertainment....

Don't you have some doorknobs to lick?
