I hate to day it but the House needs to start holding non-cabinet members in personal contempt for refusing to testify. I know and understand that they are just being used as pawns by the ultra-politicals but their the only people whose liability is theoretically greater for ignoring subpoenas since they're mostly just following orders.

At least one of those people, and possibly two, no longer work for the government. He doesn't have the right to block those.

But, this will do nothing but extend the drip drip drip, which, IMO, is bad strategy for the President. I would think they would want this over with asap, with the GOP Senate exonerating the president before Xmas.

He doesn't have the right to block any of these, current State employees or former. But he could certainly sue to stop the testimony, as Trump has sued to stop banks from complying with subpoenas.

There's no strategy here, only panic.

Gee, this explains why Volker resigned on Friday.

This is a running tally, by week: https://theweeklylist.org/

At first I thought "oh, this is good" and then I started to read it and now feel a little sick.

OMG I feel sick now too.

I think that site got a thread way back early on in this nightmare, but I feel like it can have another. If only so the crumbling democracy at the hands of the GOP is seen clearly.

IMPEACH TRUMP?

47% of Americans say YES
47% of Americans say NO

That's a net 20-point swing in one week

Last week: 37% impeach, 57% don't

Now why would they constantly be polling this?
Why wouldn’t they?

The statement clearly says the whistleblower had "direct knowledge of certain alleged conduct" and that Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson obtained additional information during his preliminary review that supported other allegations in the complaint not based on firsthand knowledge, including Trump's July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump keeps digging that hole. . . .

Look at the footnotes .....

Pompeo is going this week for a conference, but the question still stands for the balance of them. It cannot be a coincidence. Particularly with the various Oligarchs who happened to be there as well.

Maybe Trump will want Bannon back.

He probably will.

Bannon left for Italy dodging a subpoena from the FTC. https://www.politico.com/news/2019/09/25/steve-bannon-ftc-subpoena-cambridge-analytica-001022

Only the best people.

Reports today indicated Pompeo was on the call, so he just flat out lied last week.

No. He dodged the question, which is technically not a lie, but definitely disingenuous.

"To the best of my knowledge, so from what I've seen so far, each of the actions that were undertaken by State Department officials was entirely appropriate and consistent with the objective that we've had," he said, which is "to tighten our relationship [and] to help end corruption in Ukraine."

Sure, Pompeo. Sure. Has he forgotten that he himself is also a State Department official?

If my kids did that, I would consider it a lie. A weaselly one.
