Most federal workers are not based in DC.
1/3 of federal workers are veterans.
Many small businesses rely on a customer base of federal workers who are not spending their money right now during the shutdown.
But sure, go ahead and sneer at those affected by the shutdown.
You mean, not spending the taxpayers' money.
It's the taxpayers' money.
Not the federal beauracrats', and not the contractors.
Just like your salary is actually the money of customers who pay your company for its services.

Outgoing White House chief of staff John Kelly said in an interview published Sunday that the Trump administration has moved on from the push for a concrete wall along the southern border.
"To be honest, it’s not a wall,” Kelly told The Los Angeles Times.
The shutdown is already causing major problems at national parks despite efforts by states and private groups to offset the loss of federal funding.
A pileup of trash and dirty toilets during the shutdown has drawn intense concern at Joshua Tree National Park in California. December is historically one of the park’s busiest months — last year, 284,398 people visited Joshua Tree in December. Visitors are still being allowed into the park, but there are no federally funded services being provided, including maintenance.

It's just a matter of time before the fork gets stuck into Trump. Most of the Rs don't want the wall and the Ds coming in might just be the excuse they need.
What fig leaf are they going to provide the base with?
Yes, that's the question. I figure that the House will pass something with some more money for the "border barrier" (whatever that means), but not the full $5 billion. That will pass and go to the Senate where it will pass. Trump will either sign it or veto.

Anonymous wrote:Americans blame Trump (rightly so) for the shutdown.
More Americans blame President Donald Trump than congressional Democrats for the partial U.S. government shutdown, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Thursday, as the closure stretched into its sixth day with no end in sight.
Forty-seven percent of adults hold Trump responsible, while 33 percent blame Democrats in Congress, according to the Dec. 21-25 poll, conducted mostly after the shutdown began. Seven percent of Americans blamed congressional Republicans.

Not sure who Shemer is but I guess Trump will get what he wants just like he got Mexico to pay for the wall. Ha ha.
