Totally agree but as another PP said above, Kaiser was in full-time daycare practically from birth although neither Jenelle nor Nathan was working. I agree that this was a fantastic and perhaps lifesaving decision.

+1. The ONLY thing that has kept Adam in Aubrey's life is the money from the show. If not for that he would have disappeared five years ago. The only effort he makes is for the camera and the resulting money.

No, I think it's on her dad. I think he influences her greatly. I think he wouldn't care less if Adam was gone tomorrow. That kind of opinion does nothing for Aubree, who ultimately suffers. I think Chelsea would be just fine acting civil if her dad was on board. She still carries a torch, if not only for Aubree.

Look, I'm not claiming to be an expert, but my ex, the father of my kids, is sort of flighty. We did the tit for tat, back and forth bad attitude for years. It was awkward and uncomfortable, and ultimately, our kids suffered. One day I woke up and said enough was enough. I set up a meeting and told my ex the past was the past, clean slate, but we needed to get along for our kids. We can actually talk at events now, it's nice for our kids. And yes, my ex steps up a LOT now. He even comes in for a beer at holiday exchanges. It's so much easier on everyone involved.

The level of awkwardness at those events has to be extreme. When he DOES show up, it seems nobody acknowledges him at all, and the Houska clan led by Randy give him the stare down like, "Look at that moron, actually showing up for a game!" Like he just can't win!

I'm not saying he's perfect, he clearly does not like paying his child support. But money aside - and kids don't understand the almighty dollar - the kid likes to see her dad show up. I think I'd do whatever I had to do (like be friendly and civil) to make him comfortable enough to show up. It's been 7 years; the Houska clan needs to get over themselves.

Not unusual at all. Everything in that room is new and awesome and fun. It's quite common for a little kids to be drawn to that. If he's like my kid, once the novelty wears off in a week or two, he might have some separation anxiety. Or maybe he won't.
The fact that he didn't cry (in and of itself) is not an indication of anything? bad.

She obsesses about him not showing up. He's been not showing up for like 7 years. Why are we even talking about it anymore! Some dads are absentee, she should just be glad Cole is stepping up.

This. While in agreed wholeheartedly with her reaction to her mom's inappropriate talk in front of Aubrey, Chelsea talks to others about Adam in a derogatory manner within in aubrey's earshot all the time.

I think Chelsea does a great job of NOT talking about Adam in front of Aubree even when producers are cuing her to do so. She asked who came for her birthday, and when Aubree listed one person, she asked "anyone else?" It seemed very natural, even though we clearly knew she was talking about Adam. A less sensitive person would have straight up asked if her dad was there. Chelsea knows that despite his un-deserving-ness, Aubree loves her dad, and she has said multiple times that she's grateful that Cole is there to be a dad-model for Aubree because Adam isn't. I think Chelsea is very in tune with Aubree's wants and needs and puts them first. She dislikes Adam not because of what Adam has done to Chelsea, but how Adam's behavior affects Aubree. It really seems clear that she hurts when Aubree hurts, and it's really been like that the whole time.

Chelsea's mom just seems clueless, and I applaud Chelsea for basically telling her to shut it, while again protecting Aubree. When her mom said something like "Cole is going to be your new dad" and Aubree balked at it, Chelsea could have said "No he's not, shut up." But instead she covered for her mom saying "She meant stepdad," like it was an honest slip of words. And her mom should have gotten the hint.

Chelsea talks constantly about Adam and whether or not he shows up for things because the producers drive those conversations. It's one of the reasons she's pulling away, I think. And one of the reasons why Kail has started going batshit crazy with the cameras--she's fine to talk smack about Javi and Jo when the producers set up those conversations, but when they tell her to talk about things she doesn't want to, she threatens to quit the show. I'd think that a normal response would be "Eh, I don't want to talk about that," and it would be the end. But Kail knows how it works and that she's expected to "have a natural conversation with your friend talking XYZ," so her only way to get out of it is to stop being on the show. Vee has said on social media that that's one of the reasons she doesn't like filming--the producers set up their conversations and tell them what to talk about.
