Are there other zip codes that have or have not heard? I'm thinking we will all know by tomorrow.

Is your dc going to the Bull Run center? The principal had a lot of energy and enthusiasm at the open house tour.

We are debating it. We are very happy at our base school and may defer the decision for now.

To the PP who asked about the GBRS score, I don't know it, sorry.

Can you please share scores ?

I don't have subscores handy, but NNAT was 127, CogAt was 128, FSIQ was 126 (two subscores were in the 99th percentile but I forget which ones).

Any idea on GBRS ?

Good score PP - since the school is contacting for numbers, does it mean that numbers/filling slots are a factor in making appeal decision by committee. I thought this was based on purely scores, looking at student portfolio as whole.

It is based solely on the portfolio. Her child was accepted on appeal without any thought of numbers, just based on his/her packet. That means, for the base school, if her child leaves it will affect the number in children in that grade (let's just say it's third), which will affect the number of teachers in that grade. If they presently have 62 children planning to attend her base school in third grade they will get 3 teachers, because a class can not have more than 30 students (let's just say- don't know the exact numbers), but if she and one other kid leave, then they have 30 kids per class which means they have to have large classes and get rid of a teacher. Principals want most classes and teachers planned by the end of June, as much as possible, and last minute students leaving for the center may mess up their numbers. I find it upsetting that they would call and ask someone to do that, as it is very self serving and everyone should make their AAP decision based on what is best for that child, but that is why a principal would call and ask someone to stay.

Can you please share the scores

WISC V FSIQ = 140
NNAT = 127
CogAT = 127
GBRS = 11

And the school was primarily asking us to keep DD there because it affects the number of teachers they get. They specifically said even plus 1 or 2 kids in a grade can make a difference.

It is. The committee does not care about the number of students per school, and if one more will add an additional LLIV class/teacher. The school cares about it. If your DD means an extra class, that would mean smaller class size, which is a big deal, much bigger than center vs. LLIV. (just my opinion)
