No, he’s not. You seem to get a thrill out of bothering Democrats. But let’s face it, it’s actually Republicans who are going to sink his nominations behind the scenes. These wacky nominations are pretty easy for Democrats- they know they can protest loudly and vote no; it’s actually the few remaining normal Republicans who are being tested.
Yes. And there's enough of them to have Hedgseth quietly withdraw and move on. Senate Republicans aren't letting the garbage picks get to the floor.

Are you kidding me? I don't think this guy is going to make it to the end of the week.

She CC’d it to the second wife at the time she sent it. The second wife is the one who gave the email to NYT
Yikes. Thanks, mom. Reminds me of that mom in “Catch Me If You Can” turning in her son played by Leonardo DiCaprio.

Some highlights of the article for those who don't want to read it are below. The sources are from multiple former colleagues from several organizations he ran and paint a picture of someone who: had a big alcohol problem and was frequently intoxicated and out of control, fraternized inappropriately with female staff, created a hostile workplace for female employees, and couldn't keep it in his pants when on the road and away from his family. He was forced to step down from the two nonprofits he ran--what makes anyone think he's going to be a better manager of the entire DoD with its multi-billion dollar budget and over 3 million employees (active military and civilian)?
*forced to step down by both of the two nonprofit advocacy groups that he ran—Veterans for Freedom and Concerned Veterans for America—in the face of serious allegations of financial mismanagement, sexual impropriety, and personal misconduct.
*repeatedly intoxicated while acting in his official capacity—to the point of needing to be carried out of the organization’s events.
*Hegseth took the C.V.A. team to the strip club, where “he was so drunk he tried to get on the stage and dance with the strippers.”
*under Hegseth’s leadership, the organization became a hostile workplace that ignored serious accusations of impropriety, including an allegation made by a female employee that another employee on Hegseth’s staff had attempted to sexually assault her at the Louisiana strip club.
*Hegseth was at a bar in the early-morning hours of May 29, 2015, while on an official tour through Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, drunkenly chanting “Kill All Muslims! Kill All Muslims!”
*Hegseth had “a history of alcohol abuse” and had “treated the organization funds like they were a personal expense account—for partying, drinking, and using CVA events as little more than opportunities to ‘hook up’ with women on the road.”

And in my experience, people with drinking problems get worse, not better, when placed in high stress job situations.
+1 who is he fooling by saying he won't drink if he gets it. Only gullible people would believe that.
I had no problem with him until he said that. Shows a lack of integrity to lie lack that which validates all of the reports about him. It’s not respectable. He should have been honest and pulled a Kavanaugh.

Anonymous wrote:Hedgseth is done. Looking at mainstream media, the knives are out. And Hedgseth can only afford to lose three Republican senators. There is a history of the Senate rejecting drunken "womanizers" if that's what you want to call it - John Tower.
Hedgseth will withdraw in the next 48 hours. There is no path forward. And maybe Trump will think twice before caving to his bad impulses. Gaetz and Hedgseth were ridiculous picks for their positions. Gabbard will be next.
So far, Republican senators are doing their jobs and killing bad nominations.
