Agree; nothing like commenting with certainty when you have no clue.

Not a Battlefield fan (at all), but I think this core of club players may push them over the edge against the traditional Fairfax County powers and win them their first 6A state title in girls lax. Couple of those girls can flat out score and some good defensive middies too.

Probably in 2027; maybe in 2026.

They do but they really only take freshmen that will play. Similar to the other big schools (SSSAS, GC, Visi) they have more depth and playing time is important so they have swing players to make sure they play and don't just sit the bench all spring.

Putting Visi in the class of other area “big schools” is a stretch. Visi had losses to Potomac and SJC last year. Not ranked in top ten either.

Current Visi parent - I think they will have a good team this year, maybe even very good. They underperformed last year so hopefully they can get some of their momentum back. Big question is do we have any talent coming in to next year’s freshman class?

You will.

The Visi "recruiting" process was abysmal. They could not have done worse if they tried. It would be crazy if Visi somehow ends up with the strongest 2028 recruiting class (other than Battlefield, of course).

Yes. Not good. Hopefully they can regroup but I think the 2028 class may be lost.

I am not really getting that vibe. I think Visi may sneak out a strong class.

Where do you think they are coming from? They are not coming from the top MD teams unless a few are going from Heros. So you are left with Pride and Stars. Most of the top stars girls are public school girls. So a handful from Pride is what will be making up that class.

Hey people, guess what, your high school isn’t getting you recruited, your club is. It’s not a big deal where girls go as long as it is a good fit for them academically

I agree but having a competitive HS team just adds to the overall HS experience in addition to the benefit of playing with other strong players. Only helps with club - especially in those all important tournaments after Freshman and Sophomore year.

No one will argue that playing on a competitive team is advantageous. However, if you are are already playing for a top club it is not a necessity, when you factor in the cost of private school. If a public school is a good fit with good academics and an average to above average lacrosse team, there isn't the need to pay for private school. They are still practicing 6 days a week and probably playing 100% of the game time, being one of the top players on their HS team. That is also a valuable experience. No guarantees that you will play a lot as a freshman or sophomore at some of the privates. so if you aren't playing a ton, or only playing on JV, that reduces the benefit of being part of such a competitive team.

You make good points assuming you have decent public schools. Depending on where you live, some people do not have the option of public schools because they are so awful.

What is Battlefield? VA public?

A public HS in Prince William County Va. It has a good success at the state level across most sports, boys and girls. If that is true that they are getting all of those girls, that will be an advantage that will help them keep up with the better fairfax teams.

Can you elaborate on that?

Conversations with various people lead me to believe there may be more applying than people think, and some of those players are good. I could certainly be reading it wrong, and there is big a difference between applying and accepting. But, it would not be surprising to me if Visi sneaks out a recruiting victory because certain families were probably always destined for Visi regardless of the coaching situation, which I think was what caused everyone to think 2028 would be a flop recruiting year.
