Poor Roman is so damaged he couldn’t even say the word “hug” in this last episode. I don’t think much good happens to them.

I thought the scene with her and Roman last night was really good though. Also the scenes with Roman in the episode where Logan died.

I think it's building to something, too. I think something is going to go down with all the old guard at Waystar -- Geri, Karl, and I guess Frank. This episode had Geri threatening/going toe to toe with Roman, and Karl threatening Kendall. Geri is a successful General Counsel who has no doubt filed away every inappropriate text Roman has ever sent her (including last season's dick pic) and Karl is a CFO who knows where all the financial bodies are buried. If one (or both together) decided they wanted to bury the Roys, they could. I think they are both more likely to simply use this information to get the payout or job they want (neither of them is going to turn whistleblower -- they aren't in it for the ethical superiority), but that doesn't mean they can't twist the screws into the Roy kids if they really want to.

What? Her maneuvering during the CEO shuffle? That speech to Roman in this episode? That speech was awards worthy.

I’ll give her that speech. And, I should be more clear: I’ve been disappointed in her dialogue (not her biz maneuvering). I think overall her dialogue was better in previous seasons.

And shiv, with her history of trauma and abuse, would probably “love” him more when he did.

I don't get that vibe at all. In fact, I think Tom has steeled himself to take an awful lot. Tom doesn't really lose control.

I know this is all fiction but I really hope this doesn’t happen. Tom is a horrible person but I love McFadden so much and couldn’t stomach it.

I got the sense she was reviewing bad news. Or watching an ultrasound, or something related to the pregnancy, that made her sad, because her family had fallen apart. The specific thing is less important than the fact that Tom came in and then they seemed to flirt with rekindling things, or newly balancing their relationship.

A poster upthread noted that her phone looked like it had a timer on it, which backs up the idea she was telling the truth to Tom about "scheduling her grief." I think this is one of those things where the characters were being truthful but we're so used to them lying that we can't accept it.
