The problem is Ukraine has to use its own weapons to blow up stuff in Russia so it will be a while for the fun to begin.
That wouldn't be fun at all. Notwithstanding Putin being a fascist aggressor who ordered an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, those Russian cities are packed full of men, women, and children that I assume I would like very much if I ever got a chance to know them.
You are correct. The previous statement was no doubt written by someone who has never been endangered by any sort of war, and is not planning to go and help Ukraine fight.
I hear some of this sentiment from those who had left Ukraine many years ago (citing corruption, low quality of life, antisemitism and what not) but now are suddenly full of bloodthirst to those who have nothing to do with decision making and are suffering from those decisions (though yes to a much lesser extent than many Ukrainians).
DP what bullsh#t answer. Russians need to feel the full horror of what they have done in the Ukraine. It is past time to destroy Russians civilian infrastructure and target civilians through out Russia.
Yes they gave a bs answer. Yes it would be a great bit of schadenfreude for the Russian population, that is so full of blood lust that they cheer on and celebrate rape, torture, and the bombing of kindergartens, to feel the suffering they have imposed on others themselves. Nevertheless, it is not in Ukraine's interests to do so. Besides, the Russian Army rapes themselves constantly, both literally and figuratively. Of course that doesn't mean that a sojourn through Belgorad is off the table or that bases in Rostov are unacceptable targets.
I know quite a few Russians and they are scared and sad about this war.
It was not their choice.
I know there are different ones too but they aren’t all like that.
I know it’s a thing to hate on Russians now though
Lol, Russians aren't victims. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5yvjyJdDW0
Many are.
Many didn’t choose the war
Nah. This is not Iraq. And Iraq is the last war in a 100 years that is suspect for an American “invasion”. Even if Iraq was unjustified America still was not as evil as Russia in the execution of the war. And Iraq was after America went thru 9/11; which was not an ideological attack- it was a real attack.
Russians have been orcs/savages long before February of 2022; just now the world gets to see how despicable their culture and government really is.
Russia has been doing this (on a smaller scale) for over 20 years; they just got caught being greedy and are back to being the scourge of the planet with North Korea.
When you talk about the culture of savages with corrupt government you cannot separate the two countries. Ukraine and Russian people are the same. Many Ukrainians in rural areas can’t even speak the Ukrainian language. They feel more Russian than Ukrainian. Their governments worked together with regard to corruption.
Russia being ruthless is not News to too many people. And when it comes to war we’ve seen inhumane brutality with random countries. Because Germany was so heinous and apparently not alone in their antisemitism it gave Japan some room to hide their own brutality. Russia doesn’t stand alone in terms of war. Ukraine needs to negotiate. Who are we to tell other countries to have family members killed or maimed ? I hope they end it soon.
Awwww poor little paid troll in a propaganda center is sad that it’s not going well over there. I mean I guess your leader can pose shirtless on a horse again to look tough and can conscript a few hundred thousand more poor souls to fight while they heavily drunk Stolichnya all day, but really they should just go home. It’s sad and it’s stupid. It needs to stop. The second you leave is when it stops. And no Ukraine and Russia are not the same as evidenced by the incredible pushback against this illegal war.
There is no meaningful difference between Putin on a horse and Zelensky in skintight khakis.
Other than one being a corrupt authoritarian loser and the other being a strong leader who has the power and strength to protect his people from a hostile aggressor, sure!
Look at you throwing around the word "authoritarian" like it's a bad thing!
Here's a charming piece of news for your midday chow: despite singing pretty songs about the last stand of democracies vs. authoritarian baddies, last year, the U.S. cheerfully sold advanced weaponry to more than half of all authoritarian regimes on this planet:
https://theintercept.com/2023/05/11/united-states-foreign-weapons-sales/
"The reality, however, is that the Biden administration has helped increase the military power of a large number of authoritarian countries. According to an Intercept review of recently released government data, the U.S. sold weapons to at least 57 percent of the world’s autocratic countries in 2022."
Quick!! Look over there!!
Don't sell advanced weaponry to dictators and there won't be anything to look at. Especially while littering the airwaves with how much you hate authoritarian regimes!
lol. Silly bot. No one is getting sidetracked by your advanced ability to try and derail the conversation with non-germane comments and whataboutism.
Russia out of Ukraine. Get it? The world wants Russia out of Ukraine because Russia invaded it and is the aggressor. Get it, not? Again, with your stupid distractions ignored, this thread is about how Ukraine is putting up an incredible fight against Russia who invaded it. It invaded it with a big drunk army of poor men who really don’t want to be there. So they should get out and stop attacking. Mmmkay? Now go get a software upgrade to ChatGPT 2.0 or whatever budget azz AI they have where you are. It’s still crystal clear you are a propaganda bot here to deflect from the actual problem of Russia invading Ukraine.
LOL I've been on DCUM long enough to see how weirdly touchy Americans become when you remind them that the world's most oppressive, authoritarian, theocratic monarchies of the Gulf call America their best friend and ally. It's just not a point to which they have a good rebuttal (how can they? 'tis true). So all they do is froth at the mouth.
Hi, no one cares or is talking about this. If you haven’t noticed this is a thread about how Russia illegally invaded Ukraine and is now getting cucked on the world stage. Thanks for trying to distract again, you paid propagandist.
Of course you don't care - who cares about being exposed for their hypocrisy?
Talk about Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine all you want.
But anytime you bring up anything about "the global battle of authoritarian regimes vs democracies", I'll be here to rub the American love affair with the Gulf dictatorships in your face. You don't get to kiss Al-Saud's bum for years and call yourself a defender of democracies. Well you won't, not in this thread.

Lol, someone doesn't know anything about the Japanese in WW2 or the Viet Cong.
But enough about the distraction. What's the current line on the Pirozghin revelations? Was he trying to double cross Shiogu or the Ukrainians? There's been quite a few Colonels and above targeted over the last few days. Did your guy give up the coordinates?
Words words words.
You think it was ok for kids and old people in Hiroshima to die? It was all worth it, right?
Wow you guys work fast. I just heard about tonight's unstoppable hypersonic khinzal and came to laugh about how last century's patriot missile batteries shot them down again. But you all were on top of things and ready. Kudos to your work ethic. It must be so difficult to keep up appearances these days.

I simply don’t think that there is joy in children dying
You disagreeing is not an issue. The issue is that people like you constantly repeat Russian propaganda talking points. It's tiresome. You're not being a critical, original thinker. You're just parroting the lies the Russian government is spreading through social media.
But it's not like there's only one set of talking points in this space, is it? Ukraine has its own propaganda machine and it is churning out material nonstop. There's no much original thought there either. Everyone is parroting someone.
I understand that Ukraine is churning out propaganda, but I also understand, because I'm not an idiot, that there's no "two sides" to this conflict. Anyone who thinks there is, is falling for Russian propaganda that is intended to break the resolve of the US and our allies to support an (imperfect) democracy in a war of national survival. Maybe we've gotten used to ambiguous wars, because the US has fought in so many of them. The Russian invasion of Ukraine is not one of them.
I have to wonder what someone is thinking if they look at this conflict and conclude that somehow Ukraine is more than 5% responsible for the war. And that Russia has some legitimate points.
I mean there are volumes upon volumes of diplomatic writings and reports, produced by Americans, going back to the 90s, that say NATO's eastward push is a bad idea, flirting with Ukraine is a bad idea, red line blah blah. Prior to the invasion, it wasn't even remotely controversial. But now people behave like this never existed.
This is 100% Russian propaganda.
Obviously you’re not happy that Europe is finally banding together to shore up support for NATO and providing new funding to it. I mean it sucks for you Russian guys, right? What with Sweden and Finland and all these random EU countries coming together to basically rebut Russia’s impotent attempts at becoming a great power again by their illegal attempt at a power grab in Ukraine. You’ve embolden the EU with your illegal war on Ukraine. And now you’re pushing some nonsense bs that it was nato that provoked the crisis. Stfu. Complete Russian propaganda.

You’re probably chatting with an AI bot or someone paid to post pro-Russia dialogue if you see something overly supportive. That’s the truth. There are literal buildings filled with paid trolls who either seek to distract or do a firehose of propaganda in forums where the topic of the Russian invasion of Ukraine is being discussed, so the topic ends and posters just give up talking. It appears to be happening here as well. Just ignore them and bring the conversation back into focus.
If only. The sad truth is that Russia's propaganda arsenal is as outdated as its munitions. They won't even allow pro-Russia dissidents to use derelict .SU domains. They are essentially not fighting an info war at all because their country is run by Russian boomers. The accusations of Russian propaganda is pure projectionism. Look up the Smith-Mundt Modernization act and learn how it became legal for the US government to aim their propaganda at a domestic audience.
What you are up against are a ragtag bunch of isolationists, peaceniks and nationalists. Many of us feel NATO is the real aggressor here, with the 2014 coup and subsequent shelling of the Donbass as the start of this conflict. There are even some hardcore leftists on our side. Its a real awkward band of brothers, but you oppose warmongers with the allies you have, not the allies you want.

This is a very tired tactic of accusing anyone who doesn’t agree with you of being a troll

Oh, I know. There's a well-established process, which is why you see the same talking points come up at the same time. It starts with the troll farms as well as the paid off influencers and the useful idiots, and it flows down to the credulous posters on social media. Once you understand how it works, it becomes pretty transparent.

Doesn't look like a stalemate to me. You should wait until Ukraine starts its counter attack before making declarative statements like that. Besides, peace is easy to achieve. Russia just needs to go home and stop invading.

Is this the "spring" counter attack that we've been hearing about for 6+ months?
