They’re just gonna punt again. The GOP is so soft on crime and corruption.

Starting to look that way. Politico did a whip count yesterday which had 90 Rs planning to vote to expel him (they need about 77 for expulsion.) Now today the Speaker has said he won’t vote to expel and some of them are going to waffle.

What does “whipping it” mean in this context?

The House majority and minority parties each have a position known as the Whip whose job it is to count (whip) probable votes on either side of a pending bill or resolution and convince members to vote a particular way. Tom Emmer is the Republican Whip and Katherine Clark is the Democratic Whip. This House majority has been real bad at counting votes, though, so not sure how much this means.

Like the Kevin Spacey character in House of Cards. He was the House Whip

Will that be enough for them to keep him in office, despite indictments, etc.?
What a joke the GOP is!!

They just got a new R member sworn in who won a special election in Utah, and the ethics committee report, DOJ’s superseding indictment and the info in his staffers’ guilty pleas that came out since they discussed this before are all really bad. Guess it’s finally time to rip off the bandaid.

I sincerely doubt it.

Basically he's leaving it up to the individual members and not pressing them to vote one way or another. He's stated his preference but that's it.

Evidently the way to America’s heart is to be as corrupt as possible in a variety of ways.

I doubt the GOP will expel him, too chicken and they seem to love the crazy right now.

They’re going to get another chance this week: According to a CSPAN producer, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) on the House floor gave notice of his intent to offer a privileged resolution to expel Santos and force a floor vote. Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY), co-lead on the resolution, was seated next to him. House now has 2 days to take action.

ASAP. This has taken way too long. How long does it take to replace him so that district can actually have representation in the house?

By law, Gov. Kathy Hochul must call a special election within 10 days of being notified of a vacancy and the election then must happen between 70 and 80 days from that announcement.

Yeah! A Dem will win.
