Smart idea for showcases. If you are going to have to compete across a wide age range in college, might as well show what you can do to recruiters. The best with thrive, those complaining about the change didn't have a real shot anyway.Anonymous wrote:Hello everyone it’s me, the guy who mention grad year for olders showcase. I like to pop

So I’ll say it slower.
My friend ECNL Director girls/boys club as well as another buddy works for usclub helping oversee one of the big SoCal soccer leagues.
Has told me what ECNL/RL, MLSN, GA and even big non league college showcases like surf cup are considering is allowing players who are age eligible for U18 ONLY so that would be for players in 25/26 born between Aug-Dec 2008/ Jan-July 2009.
If you fall into this group and are a junior you would be eligible to attend showcases for U17 if you’re a senior you should play showcase matches with U19.
So yes there is the potential for an age difference of 23 months for U17 just like there will be for U19 as the current chart would be Aug 2007-July 2009. Al’s 23 months.
The rationale is at the highest level of youth competition this should not affect player ability as most players have reached growth spurts and such at this point.
It is strongly being considered to start next year and would just be involved within each league or tournament rule book.
It may get tabled until 27/28 to allow for a year for the dust to settle with new age group changes.

This makes sense because any player who’s actually able to play D1/2 would have no problem competing with older players. Also aligns better for college recruiting for showcases without effecting younger players.

Just to clarify NO 36 month age range would be allowed. Only players each year who fall under U18 could play with their correct grade. Because there will not be a U18 age group. Will be U17/19.
So no two year hold backs or anything like that. 23 months would be most allowed and only for what is considered the highest level of competition in youth soccer.
So to qualify you need to be a certain age and a certain grade in school?
Who is going to police players grade in school? Is this something they need to show proof of to play down?
Where have I heard that before? Hmm....
I can only speak for us club side that each director would need to notify the area rep and let them know for showcase they are bringing players who are U18 age eligible but will be attending the U17 showcase. Could there be a numbers restriction per team maybe?? Like less than 3 as is typical for trapped player type rules currently.
Will have to wait and see what they decide… I just know that they are considering this.

Looks like you found the one "pushing" for a 36 month age gap starting rumors and he specifically pointed out that it wouldn't be a 36 month age range, it would be 23. So nobody was ever pushing for a 36 month age range, it was all just a lie by you. Good to have that settled.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Hello everyone it’s me, the guy who mention grad year for olders showcase. I like to pop

Wont happen. Once college coaches get SY again with Aug birthdays playing with their grade in school teams they'll be happy.
Allowing play downs just creates an arms race for parents who will hold their kids back in school. Which means 16 year old Freshman and 20 year old Seniors.
That's the thing, August players aren't going GY and don't make enough of the misaligned players to make it worth the squeeze.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Hello everyone it’s me, the guy who mention grad year for olders showcase. I like to pop

They don't even collect and verify all kids grades around here. Adding grade doesn't make any sense because it listed on tables from actual clubs around here. It's just one person's hopes and dreams.
